Hello from Clovis/Cannon AFB, NM

4 Attachment(s)
Hello, my name is Daniel and I just purchased this 1990 Miata. It already came with alot of performance mods as follows:

Greddy Turbo/Manifold
BEGI downpipe and full exhaust
Custom intercooler and piping
RX7 injectors
Megasquirt plug and play ECU tuned by UMS tuning 186 rwhp at 11 psi
LCI wideband 02 sensor
Koyo radiator

Suspension/Chassis:
NB miata hard S bilstein shocks
NB shock mounts
NB bumpstops
NB Shock tower brace
H&R springs
Flyin' Miata frame rail braces

Wheels/tires/brakes
NB big sport package brakes
Axxis metal master brake pads
Kosei K1 racing 15x7 wheels
Kumho XS 205/50/15 tires

Drivetrain
ACT Organic Clutch from FlyinMiata and 13.5 lb LW Flywheel
1.8 liter limited slip differential setup
1.8 halfshafts
Rebuilt shifter

Right now I'm working on getting it retuned for this NM altitude. It will be my AutoX/Road Course car. I used to race AutoX/Drag/Ice Racing up in Alaska for the last 2 years with my Mazdaspeed3. Before that I had an FC RX7 that I AutoX/Ice Raced. It feels good to be back in a RWD car.

I haven't named my Miata yet, still working on that..lol

If you like to autocross there is one held in Amarillo. Last October about 6 people from the base attended. Ask around and come with that group for the next one!

Sorry you're in Clovis. I have never lived anywhere with roads that bad....well that were paved. There is a guy named Simon running around there on base with an RX8 that goes to track a lot, Williams has a 240sx and is around too. Haven't been around there in a while so limited on who is still around.

99mx5 02-19-2013 01:32 AM

Welcome! Greets from Las Cruces. If you are ever down south, check out the trackdays at Arroyo Seco Raceway in Deming or the SCCA Autocross in El Paso.

coltonr 02-19-2013 02:20 AM

Yea Simon is still here, I live down the street from him. Me and Williams have a mutual friend in Japan, he should be back from his deployment in a few months. Theres a couple other Miata guys here. But your right about the crappy roads here in Clovis. lol

Hmm...we might need to venture out that way for track/autox.

Well that truly sucks!

Miater 02-19-2013 08:51 AM

Welcome.

Get a roll bar!

Braineack 02-19-2013 12:01 PM

Welcome, arcticspeed!

arcticspeed 02-19-2013 07:29 PM

Thanks, I'm looking at getting a Hard Dog Sport Roll Bar from FM. Tomorrow starts day one of my retune with my tuner. Hopefully we get all the kinks worked out with the altitude change.

baron340 02-19-2013 07:46 PM

Welcome... Kirtland sucks too, but if you're ever up this way gimme a shout.

aaronc7 02-19-2013 08:04 PM

Didn't realize you were on MSF as well.... just looked up your miata thread on there as well. My squadron is sending a bunch of people out to Cannon over the next year to stand up a new squadron, there's a chance I may see ya out there.

I'll be out that way this weekend. Track day at Sandia. Most of the car guys from Cannon are attending. We will be leaving Cannon around 5:30 Friday.

Yea...lol Are you apart of the flyers coming out here with the J-Models? I'll be here a minimum of 4 years unfortunately. So I'm sure I'll see you if you do come here lol.

Dot3 02-19-2013 08:25 PM

Upgrade to xida and come to Abq to give me a ride.

Nope, they are converting all the PC-12s out there for us. So far I've been lucky and not 'been on the list' to go out there, but they will still need to send some more people I am pretty sure, so I'm not totally safe, yet.

Chilicharger665 02-19-2013 09:40 PM

What tuner are you using?

Chilicharger665 02-19-2013 10:04 PM

Also where are you getting the schedule for Sandia? I google the track and click on the official site and it says there is another website was being built so I had no idea there was a trackday this weekend. Are you taking your car? If so, how are you going to track it with no roll bar?

One of the guys here called the new owner of Sandia and put together a track day for us. He is working on building the new site for the track. Yes I'm taking my car, and as far as I was told I won't be needing a roll bar according to the guy that called and setup the track day which is a prior miata owner. Also my car has been to Sandia last year without a roll bar with the previous owner.

Chilicharger665 02-19-2013 10:10 PM

No I know you have megasquirt, I thought you were going to a dyno tuner.

Is the track day only for base personnel? I have this weekend off and I would love to go.

Oh ok, I'm getting remote tuned by Stratified Automotive Controls, just to adjust my tune for the altitude change. I'll have him remote tune it on the dyno in Amarillo once I build a 1.8 motor.

No the track day is open for everyone, its just unannounced. There should be quite a few ppl from ABQ attending as well. Come on out if you can. Don't let me be the only Miata out there.

Chilicharger665 02-19-2013 10:28 PM

Hell yeah! I will be there! Look for a Ti Mazdaspeed. So whats the schedule and when do I need to be there? How much money? Etc etc. It probably will be better if you just PM me the details and we can stop cluttering this thread.

Also I go up to Portales about once a month and I do all my work on my uncles lift so if you ever have big projects, maybe I can help you out if my uncle agrees to it.

I usually just hit the base hobby shop up for their lift or use my jack and jackstands, but I'll keep that in mind. PM enroute.

Just a suggestion. Go to the Tortilla Factory on the main drag just south of Hastings. Get a King Carne Asada just meat&cheese&hot stuff. Then mail it to me. I would trade sexual favors for good mexican food here.

Been here 4 months and never heard of that place. Getting on it!

TorqueZombie 02-19-2013 11:54 PM

Small place. South of Discount Tire/Hastings a couple blocks. Looks shady as hell and good food. Family place. The King Burritos are about the size of my forearm and they do not skimp on the meat and other stuff. Not like the places here that think crappy ground beef is carne. Damn.........I really want food now.

arcticspeed 02-20-2013 12:08 AM

Well damn, I guess I'll have to go eat lunch there tomorrow.
