Hello from the frozen north

Checking in from Portland, Maine. I've been reading and lurking and searching and googling here for a couple of years. Finally decided to dive in and introduce myself. I've got a red 1994 currently with its motor in pieces. Bought my first Miata, a 1995, about three years ago but it was a New England car so it was rusted to heck. So I stripped it of parts I needed, sold the shell and motor, and bought a 1994 from Raleigh, N.C. with no rust. Been tinkering with that for a couple years until this winter, when I decided to finally rip apart the motor and go turbo. Pretty sure the PO who I bought it from was a member here, turbo-ed it for a season, then sold all the go-fast parts after his credit card payments kicked in, or some such thing. I can't remember his user name, but I recall finding a MT.net link in the craigslist ad for the car. I remember he had an absurdflow mani and DP, and he cut a bunch of weight out of the car, stripped interior, etc. (Thanks, Chad!) The plan so far is 99 head, ebay forged rods, stock pistons, coolant re-route, ebay aluminum rad, ACT clutch, Torsen rear, stock 5-speed trans. My goal is a rock-solid reliable 250 whp, with a fair safety margin on an ebay turbo. No plans right now to track it/race it. (too poor, lolz.) Down the line, I'd like to pull the stock dash (it's a shell and completely empty underneath) to do a minimalist, retro-inspired replacement. The car has been my excuse to pickup fabrication tools and experience, so with the group wisdom here, I hope to keep from ******* up too badly. No pics of car right now, so have cats as peace offering.
