Hello there friends. Couple months ago I picked up my first car, a miata! 1999 10th Anniversary, just hit 102k miles. Currently in the process of researching my plans on boosting. first gonna do a good compression test and leakdown test before even thinking of FI. I am a total newb to cars. Only experience I've done is an oil change. I have lots of research todo and wont make the mistake of being ignorant to the search button; you fuckers are notorious for giving a 'nice' welcoming, haha. jokes.

However, my plan is to have a $2500 DIY kit.

Anyways, I like cars, computers, and lacrosse. Not much else.

Some pics of my car, tried to img tag them but they were too big and my 16-year old lazy self is too tired to reupload them.

Welcome. Whatever you think you will end up spending, double it.

Welcome! I also have a 99 and also live in Tampa, however yours is far far prettier than mine! When you say DIY are you planning to fab your own manifold/downpipe/exhaust? If not, I think you need to start with a cheaper turbo than gt2560r (I saw your WTB ad) to have any chance of hitting your budget. Churbo or used T25 would be the places to look. Good luck and have fun!

Very nice car! I love that color.

If you want to DIY a turbo system, you have a looooooy of reading and searching to do. Start in the noob sticky threads and go from there. I greatly enjoyed the book Street Turbocharging by Mark Warner. Well written and easy to digest, look into getting a copy. I like having it around as a reference to look things up.

Welcome, ipwnedx!

Wow! Good for you! I can't imagine how my life would have been different if I got a real car like a miata first. I wasted so many years modding subarus.

Welcome to the forum. There are several Tampa guys here. Are you familiar with the Tampa Bay Miatas forum? Most of them are not into turbos but they can be a good source for other parts. The guys into turbos are also on here so here is the right place to be.

Hello. Enjoy the Miata, but don't heavily invest in it until you know for sure what you're doing after high school.
