Hello from the netherlands
Hi I'm lurking for quite a while on this forum and thought i would make an intro post.
I'm 21 years old, i live in Sneek in the Netherlands. I'm working as a chemical analyst at the moment but i plan to go back to school next year. This wil also mean less money for the car for the next 4 years. I have several friends that own miata's and my brother got an ep3 civic type R. My dad is a mechanic so i have an garage with lift next to my house:) Also there are a lot of nice curvy roads close to my house. All of this allows for some pretty fun times fucking around with cars. I own a 10th anniversary miata so it's got the nice blue paint, 1.8L engine, 6 speed and torsen diff. Its also equipped with abs & power steering, no a/c. The engine was using a lot of oil last year, i didn't check it for a week or so and then drove the car hard with too little oil. This ofcourse let to a spun bearing. I pulled the engine with my dad and completely rebuild it with oem parts. In hindsight i could have done forged internals but whatever, i learned al lot from the process and i now have a completely fresh engine. Also i hit a patch of black ice last winter and drove the car into a guard rail. Luckily i didn't have any injuries and the car was not bend. I replaced the drivers side fender, door and (with help of my dad) rear quartel panel. (all those spot welds! :D) Aside from breaking things i also did catch up on maintenance and did some modifications. Main mods on the car are: Jr7 15x8 et36 wheels wrapped in 205/50 r888r's MeisterR coils springs upgraded to 10k front 6k rear (about 550/350 lb/in) 1.125" tubular front sway 14mm rear swaybar Full 2.5 inch exhaust 42mm aluminum radiator Roddison brake pads Soft-top delete NBFL bumper, headlights, seats and some interior bits I use the car mainly as a weekend toy, i want to do autocross and the occasional track day. (definitely will do a yearly nurburgring trip :) Plans for the car are: rollbar & chassis stiffening, more suspension stuff, better brakes, add some tupperware and of course a turbo. Turbo plan: Garrett gt2560r MSlabs MS3 mini pnp ecu & aem xseries wideband Kraken manifold & downpipe with iconel studs Bosch ev14 640cc injectors Bofiracing clutch kit Bofiracing oil & water line solution Bofiracing intercooler kit with blow off valve MAC electronic boost controller I'm planning to start a build thread when the time is there. I will go into more detail there. Since i live in the Netherlands i have to deal with taxes if i buy stuff from the usa. For instance I'm considering xidas but it will cost me close to 3k. So keep this in mind if you recommend me parts :) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...81931770f9.jpg |
Hello fellow Dutch!
Looks like a well sorted car, good selection of parts and it seems you are not afraid to get your hands dirty. For me, finding alternative parts in Europe is always fun. Plenty of vendors in the UK to help us out here in Europe. I very rarely order parts in US, shipping and taxes are always a nightmare. I have much better experience buying from Asia. Your turbo setup looks very similar to mine, although I opted for an EFR6258 and I will be using forged rods. Do you visit Zandvoort and/or Assen every now and then? You could find me there some times :) |
Welcome to the forum. I think you are the fourth guy on the forum from the Netherlands I can remember. It sounds like you have already done a lot of research and have a good understanding of what you need. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Looking good already! I feel you in the Xidas front, especially since Tractive is round the corner, but... What are your thoughts on the Rodisson's pads?

I've tried to read a lot before asking stupid questions since people here don't seem to like stupid questions

Another Dutchmen and AE10 owner, welkom!
I pretty much run the setup that you want, except I have the G19 clutch 6 puck clutch (don't get that one, it horrible). If you are ever in the area of the Hague shoot me a PM. |
