Hello from Northern Cali!

Bought a '91 Miata last year.
Didn't start putting work on it til January of this year due to lack of funds.

Car wasn't very pretty when I got it.
Cracked white paint, cracked windshield, soft top was beyond terrible,
radiator was fried, and the suspension was rusted.
Good news was that it had a rebuilt 1.6 with about 20k.
189,8xx on the chassis.
Knew it would be a real project car. got it for $1k

Since January I've replaced everything above.
For the suspension, I used Koni shocks with Tein S Tech springs.
Put in new ball joints, tie-rod endlinks, and new front control arms.
Went with a Mishimoto radiator.
Got the car painted satin black.
Got some 15x8 XXRs.

Here's some pics

Planning on installing a custom 16G Turbo kit this weekend.

What manifold are you going to use, or are you building it all from scratch? Also, what engine management do you have?

PRBLMTK 03-04-2011 09:54 PM

I plan on using a Megan manifold and downpipe. For the ECU, I'm still debating on either the AEM or MegaSquirt.

welcome. where in nor-cal are you?
stay away from megan POS

North Bay - Vallejo.

So no go on the Megan? How about GodSpeed?

dustinb 03-04-2011 10:29 PM

Most 16g manifold/dp's are sort of garbage. As far as ECU's go, I'd probably save the money and go megasquirt.

Same crap.
Pretty much 100% likelihood of cracking within a few months.
Get something sturdy like a begi or fm log manifold. They are like 300-400 bux and will last pretty much forever.
All the tubular knock off stuff on ebay is paper thin and has no support and 99% of them have cracked.

Buy someone's used setup here. Get something good. Lots of deals in the classifieds.

Also, why car so high? Why tires so small?

the front end actually sits flush. i had the front fenders rolled because there was some serious rubbing issues. the s tech springs hardly lowered the rear (which i didn't expect). i can take a pic of the front end tomorrow. tires are stretched kumho ecstas 175/45.

dustinb 03-05-2011 11:33 AM

Yah the s-tech's are listed as a 1.1" drop in the front, 0.75 in the rear.

i was thinking about getting some yonaka coilovers
