Default Serious noob in SoCal needs serious help

Hey guys,
I might just be the biggest noob to ever have introduced myself on these here forums. Well, long story short, I'm 16 and have been shopping around for a first car for awhile now. I originally wanted a miata, but got dissuaded by the stereotypes (I know). But after months of chasing crappy fox-body stangs and eclipses ready to literally fall apart, I realized what every miata owner realizes: I don't give a flying **** what anyone thinks, because I'm not compensating for anything

Well now I'm back in the business of looking for a miata, and just might have found a potential match. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/2172344625.html
What do you guys think?

Now here's where it gets tricky. I want to turbo it (obviously). But I know absolutely jack-**** about mechanics. Fortunately I have a friend with a garage to work in that's pretty good with cars, but he's never worked on a miata, much less installed a turbo kit in one. So my question is: Can I do it?

I've been looking at a couple of kits from BEGI, namely these 2:

http://www.bellengineering.net/produ...roducts_id=325

Could someone explain the differences in these 2 kits to me? Also, what else do I need? I have about a $5000 budget with everything including the car. Keep in mind that I live in California and need to keep it smog legal.

I know it's a lot to ask for, but any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

^^^^damn image sites taking **** down^^^^

AARP, at 16, you're in way over your head trying to turbo a miata REGARDLESS of what "kit" you get unless you can both, afford to drop $5k on top of what you paid for the car, and you have about 2 months that you can afford to go carless. If you can't afford either of these scenarios, I wouldn't recommend it. That being said, Got91's miata looks appealing, and may be an amazing example of a properly set-up turbocharged miata, but you'd better do some due diligence with regard to the entire drivetrain before you drop coin on a car that is "done-up" lest you find out down the road that it has major mechanical/management issues that you could have discovered pre-purchase with a little bit of education.
