Hello from Okinawa Japan

Hello everyone my name is Brandon but everyone calls me boost I'm us military station over here in japan. I currently own a 1997 integra type R that I'm in the process of trading for a 2000 6-speed 1.8 I also own a 1991 skyline GTR as a project car. All the honda guys want to kill me for trading a type R for a (miata)not called miata here in japan I forgot what it's called here. But I like rear wheel drive plus I like high horse power numbers. I have a holset hx35 and it will be going on the miata alone with 9:1 compression piston and forged rods.
I have a decent amount of turbo knowledge hints my name is boost but have very little knowledge of these car and come here to get good information.

Welcome, what branch of the military are you in and what do you do there?

gospeed81 06-24-2009 10:50 AM

Welcome.

BoostedR 06-24-2009 10:54 AM

I'm Air force. Engine troop.

Saml01 06-24-2009 11:05 AM

Youre friends are right, you will go from being known as boost to rainbow.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.

Your name is boost so you must know a great deal about forced induction.

From my experience in the military you don't pick yourself a nickname, the nickname picks you. Not sure which way around it is in your case just yet.

BoostedR 06-24-2009 11:25 AM

Miata here are are highly respected as mountain terrors. The Honda crowd here is very small. Most people refuse to race N/A let alone turbo miata's in the mountains as they are so deadly and handle like a go cart.

FRT_Fun 06-24-2009 11:29 AM

Eunos Roadster I believe is the name of them over there.

Pretty sweet deal getting to live in Japan. I am hoping to visit there when I get out of the military.

BoostedR 06-24-2009 11:36 AM

O my nickname boost came long before I ever joined the military. I use to own a 98 C5 gt45 turbo corvette plus all I talked about was turbo's and I had a pile of junkyard turbo all over my house so the nickname came alone I just went alone with it. I try to stay away from anything military as much as possible I'm just here for the GI bill and women. Everyone at my job all way ask me a zillion questions when there car break or need a parts.

BoostedR 06-24-2009 11:39 AM

O I didn't want to come here at all but where ever the government tells me go I go. I missed living in Florida so bad.

JayL 06-24-2009 11:44 AM

Welcome to the forum Rainbow.

BoostedR 06-24-2009 11:57 AM

Rainbow I like that it's colorful. My friend use to own a purple miata we all called it dildo on wheels.

greenday3437 06-24-2009 04:53 PM

You know there's tons of people in the Air Force that would kill to go to Japan, I'm sure you can work out some kind of swap or something assuming you've been in long enough. I'm an E&E troop btw

Well I'm not leaving now I make good money selling jdm part and I make a good amount of cola I'm only here 3 more years. I save every penny the air force pays me and live of the money I make selling car parts so far it worked out pretty well. I plan on buying my first house cash when I get out and go back to college. So being overseas was a good thing because It allows me to save money. If I was state side I'd probably be broke trying to pay for a c6 corvette instead of saving for a house. But living here is okay everyone want to come here really bad till they get here only people that like this place are the guys crazy over Asian women. Japanese girls are okay but I just can't be with someone that speak broken English it get really annoying after a while.

LowBoostn 06-24-2009 06:39 PM

Welcome. Well Miata's are under rated, look fragile , and underpowered. There easy to upgrade although the big numbers your looking for may be hard to achieve (but lots of TQ). But way more fun to drive then a FF car. When i was in japan for a few months several years back and it seems like Nissan, Toyota's reign supream in the land of the rising sun. I run the local mountians here every once in awhile and suprise alot of the 600 sport bikes. lol Again Welcome.

You must get sick and tired of hanging out with yourself.

The entire time I was reading what he wrote I was thinking he must not speak English very well, or have a heavy accent or something, I read that part and thought the same exact thing.

I already have a girlfriend here and to answer your question english is my second language but I think I speak it well. Japanese girls get very annoying after a while and get very attached. Japanese girls are like sports cars fun to look at and drive but unpractical for daily driving.

Maybe the girls in Okinawa are harder to deal with. Tokyo was easy for the whole multiple fuckbuddies thing though.

messiahx 06-24-2009 10:33 PM

Welcome to the forum.

I'm heading out for basic in a month, got a PMEL job. Can't wait for my ride outta Wisconsin.

How is day to day living over there? I've always thought it would be cool to ge stationed there, but 4 years away from the U.S. seems daunting. Then again my parents were at Clark AB in the Philippines back in the late 80s and said they wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

I bet you make a killing on selling those jdm parts. Just curious, what's the deal with bringing a car back? Is it even possible or would you have to strip all of your go fast parts out and leave the chassis? I assume the USAF contracts out shipping of vehicles, right?

I have been with girls from mainland and Okinawa and they aren't as different as they say they are. Yea there great for one nightstand/fuckbuddies but when it comes to relation ship they get attached and hooked real easy. I had one girl tell my friend I beat her to get him to try to fight me cause I told her I didn't want to date her.Japanese women do make good wives if that what your looking for but I am young and still have 20-25 years before I think about settling down and getting married.

Good luck with your basic training. Living here I must say is a experience the people are really nice after being here for so long it seems normal to me. It has been a experience I must add it's a lot of opportunity's to travel here I'm going to Thailand in December and Korea. Being here sucked when I first got here because I came from a nice area that I like most people that really like it here came from places they hated living. But don't be to set on going oversea no telling where you will get your assignment just make the best of it. As for shipping car lol. Don't have your mind set on that not unless you have 6-10K in the bank to blow on shipping alone that's if you have connection air force doesn't contract anybody to ship car you have to do all that yourself and very few people have success doing it. I have successfully help somebody ship a car back and can do other car but I'm not cheap and I can't get the cars registered for you just get it shipped to your front door. I will be selling my r32 GTR and buying a 96 R33 GTR and ship it back. Total cost for ME is 5,600 and I still have to get it registered. So not unless you have parent that help you financial or good at saving money not think about it. A lot of the cars guy just buy a lot of engines and take them apart and send them home for a another car. Good luck

I'd be willing to be it's a pretty rare thing to come across a 300-ish rwhp Miata over there...... hmmmmm

gospeed81 06-25-2009 12:37 PM

I though it would be fun to play mad libs with this AWESOME first post:

Hello everyone my name is(proper name) but everyone calls me (nickname) I'm (sovereign country) military station over here in(territory/region/country). I currently own a (rice limo) that I'm in the process of trading for a(generic model Miata) I also own a (20yr old Super Street drool toy) as a project car. All the(worthless tuner culture margue) guys want to kill me for trading a(previously mentioned rice limo) for a (domestic/european market MX-5 model designation)not called miata here in(foreign land you know nothing about and can't challenge me on) I forgot what it's called here. But I like rear wheel drive plus I like high (farm animal) numbers. I have a($1500 turbo) and it will be going on the miata alone with 9:1 compression piston and forged rods. I have a decent amount of turbo knowledge(misspelled adverb) my name is (previously mentioned nickname) but have very little(noun) and come here to get(verb). I use to own a (turbo'd domestic midlife crisis car) plus all I talked about was (noun) and I had a pile of (hobby paraphenalia) all over my house so the nickname came alone I just went alone with it.

So here's my lame stab at it:

I have a decent amount of turbo knowledge heartwofour my name is wastegate but have very little nads and come here to get ass-pounded by hustler. I use to own a 800hp Lincoln LS plus all I talked about was bro-rape and I had a pile of dildos and Dave Matthews CDs all over my house so the nickname came alone I just went alone with it.

Just quote me, delete everything but the big paragraph up there, put mad libs in brackets, delete descriptions and turn it into a quote.

O sorry didn't mean to offend anybody. But his car was this light purple he called it lavender. I'm sure if you saw the car you would agree. It was a free car so he took it.

bryanlow 06-25-2009 11:45 PM

HaHa, no problem. Anyway my car's not purple. It's MERLOT...

Oh fuck, that's even more gay.

Interesting....considering the only high-powered Miatas i've seen in all the pics i've looked up, it seems like only the shop showcase cars have serious boost. I've gone through tons of track day pics and 95% of the cars are n/a and a couple of JRSC kits. Seen some boosted spinners...but never really seen any boosted bangers. You have any pics of these mosters?

No no pictures I just got into miata's since the trade offer came up. The japanese people pretty much keep to themselves when it comes to cars when it comes to cars I see cars daily that would destroy a lot of those cars in magazines and forums . The japanese people I have met car more about driving than showing off there work. There is a miata guy on this island that's all he builds and you will see 300-500hp miata come out of there all the time There's this American guy rolling around on base that he built a 500rwhp aand the car is absolutely nasty. When I find where the shop is located I will be sure to post up pics. I never seen a N/A miata's out at any events.
