Hello from Portland, OR

Hello everyone!

I have a 1995 Miata...

Cool story bro...

Keano92 12-31-2014 05:21 PM

Hi Martin,

Are you still in Beaverton?

I was wondering if I could pick your brain on how you built your car? (meaning how you prepared your Miata for the turbo wiring wise, Like wiring the IAT, MAP sensor, etc..)

Thank you in advance!

Harhar, he had me do it ;)

But seriously, we swapped in a msm drivetrain, wired following the basic mspnp install instructions.

Welcome!

Keano92 12-31-2014 05:30 PM

Hi,

So the MSPNP has install instructions that cover all of what was mentioned above? If so that is great!

The reason I am asking is because a shop in town wants to charge a crazy amount to just wire the Miata to get it ready for a turbo setup?

concealer404 12-31-2014 05:43 PM

How much did the shop want to spend 30-60 minutes doing the necessary wiring to install an MSPNP and have it up and running?

Keano92 12-31-2014 05:53 PM

I'm glad you asked, $4,000

concealer404 12-31-2014 06:01 PM

LOL.

Fuck that in particular.

I'd raise the point that if you have an IQ higher than your average bear, you're probably well-qualified to do this job yourself. :)

Erat 12-31-2014 06:04 PM

I'll do you one better.

I'll fly out and do it for $1000.
Think of the money you'll save.

Keano92 12-31-2014 06:17 PM

Yea...

I knew it wasn't a $4,000 job. Their price wasn't even including a a turbo kit or anything. Just wiring!

And from what they said they had to do, it didn't seem like they knew Miata's all that well... According to them, (mind you my car is a 95) I needed a different TPS sensor, cam and crank sensors, different ignition system and on and on and on. They made it seem like the most difficult thing EVER!

I can't lie, I probably will not be able to tune the car but I definitely have the know how to do the wiring, and all the other thing that go alone with getting the car ready.

I really just need clarification on doing this the right way (meaning wiring the IAT sensor and MAP sensor and using the wires from the TPS correctly) I do know that the newer version of the MSPNP has a MAP sensor internally so maybe I do not need to worry about that..

Thank you!

Contact me, I've done a dozen or so MS installs, and can get you ready to bolt your hot side turbo parts on for around $1500 including labor, MS, AIT, wideband, and injectors.

Map sensors are built into the MS, and yeah, 94+ have great TPS sensors.

What shop wanted 4k to do all that?

Curly knows his shit, definitely the local MS tuning guy to talk (read: pester) to.
