Hello all,

I had the 1990 miata for about a year now. I thinks its about time i start the project that should have already been finished.

I cureently own a 1990 miata.
Current Mods: K-sport coilovers, F/R sway bars, Drag DR19 15x7.5" wheels with 205/45/15 Falcon Azeni RT615. Hard Top. Flat black paint by 1 day paint and body. Odyssey PC680 Dry cell battery. Sony Head Unit, Ebay steering wheel and hub.

Looking here for info on Turboing the car. The 1.6l is getting weak and im ready to move on to bigger and better things. Im am looking into completely caging it and turboing the car for time attack and fun track use.

My dad owns a 2004 MSM with some goodies. He's pushing out 250RWHP on 91 octane. He had spun a bearing in the stock motor at about 35k. We swapped a motor from a salvaged MSM and put it back together running exactly the same. So now i have the MSM 1.8l refreshed and needing a home.

The Motor:
2004 MSM 1.8l
Weisco 9.0:1 CR turbo pistons
1mm overbore
Pauter/K1 H-beam rods
All ARP fasteners
Stock head
MSM cams

Torsen LSD rear end already installed

This is my first Miata build although i have been tuning cars for many years but coming mostly from Hondas which i bet a lot of people here can say the same. I plan on doing a pretty deatiled thread with updates as they come. Thank you for all your tech support and information. I will hopefully be able to contribute some as well.

I'm a little confused; did you already buy the Wisecos and Pauter rods?

Yes, the machine work on the block and crank is done. i have not yet combined the head yet because i am still trying to figure out what i want to do with it. I also cant seem to find my oil pan, haha. Not sure where i left it. Also need to aquire some parts for the swap. I need a new distributor, valve cover ect. I also may do the COP mod. BUt still unsure on what engine management i am going with.

Going to be a fun car!

Welcome.

Troy, you are aware of how weak are the early NAs rear ends; right?

With regards to EMS and what to choose; it depends on how comfortable you are with those. If you're going to take advantage of this board's knowledge; then, I would suggest the MS. You'll get all the support you'll ever need.

wow i totally left that out. torsen rear end came with the car already installed. Forgot about that.

Yeah i was most likely going to go with the MS unless my friend over at AEM has something for me but i doubt that will go through.
I have some experience with Hydra on my dads MSM and hated it. also very costly.

FWIW, I personally run an AEM but I'm absolutely clueless about tuning so, I'm no help at all. Sorry. You may find a used one relatively cheap now that they're about to upgrade. I know there are a few Califormia Miata owners who are really good when it comes to tuning with an AEM. Still; MS is the best option.

Good luck with your project and welcome aboard.
