Hello from the UK

Hi folks.

Just working on my first GT killer 5. Got the foundations sorted so time to start on the engine build.

So far I've sorted:
Black poly bushes throughout
Ohlins coil-overs
Willwood 6 pot brakes
All the race safety kit
Mishimoto rad and fans

Look forward to getting more involved.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds as if you have a real project ahead, please keep us posted on the progress.

Welcome to the forum. More details and pics please! Are you building it for a particular racing class or just for open track days?

There's a lot of experiences chronicled in the build threads and the sticky threads here that could be useful to you. We tend to be track oriented and most of us do our own wrenching. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Thanks Sixshooter. Mixie5 is mostly a track car, building her for endurance racing and supersport so my choices are 250bhp or 300bhp at the flywheel. Ive read a lot of the threads on cooling, aero etc and have started the project with the chassis then suspension then brakes before the engine. Pics to follow.

Endurance racing at 300 horsepower is going to be a lot of trial and error. I seem to recall one of the Australian guys with a white car is pretty successful. I think it is either Bevis or Lightyear. Savington and B Bundy have also run track cars at those power levels. Heat management is the biggest problem. Right behind that is the fact that things that are not consumables at 200 horsepower become rapidly consumed at 300 horsepower on the track.

Ive got the bottom end built to handle to 250hp. TBH I dont think we will make the Super GT class at 300hp but it is worth a try. My biggest problem is shipping. Trying to source H-Bean conrods in the UK is a massive fail, and pretty much else to be fair so lots is going to be imported from the US.
