Hello from the UK (via Madagascar)

Hello, I am currently working in Madagascar but I'm from the U.K. Hello everyone! Looking forward to learning lots in this forum for when I get back. Have been wanting to turbo my car for a while now and just looking to do some extra research :-)

Welcome to the forum. What sort of work are you doing down there?

Is the car a street car or will you be doing track days as well?

I'm a volunteer doctor/surgeon currently haemorrhaging my mortgage down payment :-p. It will mainly be a street car but I hope to do a couple of track days a year too :-). At the moment looking towards a FM custom kit but am unsure about the ecu whether to go for megasquirt or go with the hydra. so still in the research stage. Also have decisions to make r.e engine. At least a year off being able to do anything but love learning :-). Do u live in the UK?

Negative. I reside in Florida.

The Megasquirt is the most common and best supported ECU option. I'd guess it is better than a 10 to 1 ratio between the two. Very few people like the Hydra.

There are some other nice options for the rest of the kit as well. Trackspeed Engineering is just releasing a kit for the EFR turbo, and for builds on a tighter budget, MK Turbo is shipping a lot of kits for the Garrett turbos as we speak.

Put your location in the profile so it shows under your screen name each time you post. It will help others in offering advice because there were some differences between the cars.

Good luck.

Hi There and welcome!
Please note there are quite a few companies in the UK which provide ECUs and turbo parts. Like G19 engineering, black cat manufacturing, Motorsport Electronics and more. I think sourcing these parts locally will be much cheaper than ordering stuff from Flyin Miata in the UK. Some UK traders are around on this forum as well, but not all.

Thanks dawan, will keep an eye out for some of these guys too :-).
