Here we go again, another guy to educate...

Greetings,
I'm a 29 year old Michigander new to Miatas, kinda. I bought my car something like 7 or 8 months ago and slowly started prepping it for some track days and some solo events if i can get my confidence where it needs to be. My brother has an NB2, which is what got me hooked. I started with a bone stock black/tan 00 LS with 60-some odd thousand miles. I have since added Kosei K-1 15" wheels with 205/50-15 Star Specs, VMaxx classic coilovers with FM springs, FM sway bar set, energy suspension adjustable endlinks, FM master cylinder brace, powerstop z26 pads with new rotors/calipers/brackets all around, and an Alpine CDA-9887 to help out that pathetic Bose system. Its time for a little bit of boost and a rollbar, so now I'm here. I actually have the HDHCDD rollbar and have done a lot of reading on turbo kits. I thought I wanted a FM voodoo kit but now im second guessing it. Anyway, I'm going to need a roll bar expert soon so I'm gonna read around until I find the appropriate section to post in. Anyway, My name is Keith. I hope to make a few friends here in the Michigan area. |
Welcome, Keith. I'm Adam from the MMO page. I tried to make it out to some of the meets last year, but never got around to it. I'll have to give you a ride some time to convince you that you need more than a voodoo kit!
I also used to work with Kurt at Continental for a little bit haha. I was a Kettering co-op just before he left. |
HI!
Is that what you call folks from Michigan? That's amazing. |
Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't do voodoo over the megasquirt.
|
I am about to drop some knowledge on you fool.
1. Install a MS and wideband O2 sensor. Learn to tune your car stock. 2. Install larger injectors, retune fuel for the new injectors. 3. Install a strong clutch. FM or ACT are the brands you should be looking at. 4. Install turbo setup. 5. Profit. |
I suppose I left out a bunch of information. I do plan on a MSPNP for management regardless of what kit I use, install a FM level 1 clutch, and learn MS on a stock engine. I'm unsure on injectors, because I plan on lower power levels. I read 200-225whp is the limit of the stock fuel system, which is around my goal. I may upgrade to some RX7 injectors if necessary.
I was merely introducing myself instead of asking a bunch of questions right off the bat. I have a bunch of reading before proceeding any further. I've done about as much reading outside the forum I can handle, but theres not a lot of quality advice out there on the interwebs/FB. I came here to hear about personal experiences rather than "get this sweet cxracing kit on ebay, it's shiny" that I'm getting elsewhere. Adam, what kinda power are you making? I'm not looking to blow CVs aparts, just make driving the car a little more enjoyable. Kurt still has his NB2 but progress has been slow with starting a family, racing lemons, and renovating a house. We gotta kick his ass into gear. |
The NB injectors are good to like 180 whp. I'm at 230 whp!
|
As soon as this salt is gone, I want to check it out.
|
Sounds good. I only have RS3 tires and Carbotech XP10 pads, so it doesn't come out of the garage below 50-60 degrees.
|
The best advice you can get:
Do not listen to any of the fools on the MMO facebook page regarding boost. A few of us are on that page as well, so you can sometimes find good information on it, but a good number of people in that group haven't got a clue. Get advice from this site and you'll have a good time. |
Lars, you need to out that in your sig.
Trans will blow before CVs btw. |
Is the price of msPNP2 controlled or are the vendors closely watching one another? I've been searching and it seems $839 is the price. I'm attempting to find a dealer but I've only found a few.

That's almost Reverant built MS3 basic prices.

The Michigan area is pretty big.
What part? I'm fairly close to the michiana line. |
I'm located in Central Michigan, specifically Midland. I make frequent trips to the Detroit Metro area.

Welcome, Kimmerlykg. Check out the Miata Gallery and post up some pics!
