hey guys.. im cody.

i have a 91 miata that has alot of grinding on to get it as low as it is..

i go to car meets in northern atlanta to show off my stock 1.6 with 250k++ on it

im planning on boosting it with a stock sr20 t25 and i joined the site to find the safest way to do it, and to buy a ton of stuff of course.

its red with some ALL white sportmax 002's on megan coilovers ( without the collars ) ...the grinding i did was in the engine bay on the top of the shock towers.
each time i would go to full lock the spring would compress on the upper control arm, so we moved it over a bit.
but as it sits i think its like 1.1 inches off the ground, front and back.

Wow...what's the wheel center to fender measurement on that?

Definitely has "stance." Not what I like...but I can respect what you want to do with your car.

I just clicked over 240K miles on my '92...but it's on it's third motor. I got the first one to just shy of 200K when I gave it back to my mom 7 years ago and she killed it. My lil brother killed the second 1.6L when he went to school...and now this baby's back in my hands for good.

Enjoy your stay. Lot of guys running that turbo.

What are your plans for engine management???

I say go MegaSquirt and do it first thing. You won't regret it, ever.

haha lets put it this way...
we took out the rear camber arms, cut them in half, and welded a 1/2 inch plate in them, and its still really bad.
but the front has almost 2x the degree of camber as the rear, lotsa under-steering that goes on

I like it, doesn't look all that low though, maybe it's the pic. Measurement?

it was an inside joke... but damn, re-welded the arms!

Nice Ride.

gospeed81 11-05-2009 07:31 AM

It does look VERY clean...didn't mean to diss it.

I commute 75 miles each way to school...and the roads I take suck at anything below 13" wheel center to fender.

Looks like the work you've done may give you some more wiggle room on travel and camber though.

not sure what you want the measurement of. but im sure that everyone knows 002 sportmax's come in 15x8 0 offset. and for the not too low part it must be the pic lol. in order to get a jack ( even the one in our trunks ) i have to drive up on a 2x4 then either someone has to pick the car up or i can drive up onto a 4x4 after that.. and the height off the ground from the frame rail is 1.1 inches.

you didnt really diss it.. im sure alot of people dont like the way i have my car..haha
but i have to say megan coilovers are amazing for $900.. they have 32 dampening settings 1 being hardest, and i have mine set on 5 so the fender and tire dont touch as much, and its still a really nice drive ( just have to watch out for any roadkill or cans on the road, might take my lip out )..

No one measures their Miata ride height this way.

Standard that somehow came into use is from wheel center to fender lip.

Just run a tape from very center of the wheel to top of fender lip arch. Should be anywhere from 11-14".

popesatan 11-05-2009 11:05 AM

on front of rear wheel?

Do both, or all four. Stock setup has 0.5-1" rake...so the rear is usually higher. Your's looks leveled out.

Example:

My current ride height is 12.25F/12.75R.

Loki047 11-05-2009 11:09 AM

Welcome aboard! Definitely get a Megasquirt...

popesatan 11-05-2009 11:15 AM

10.25 for both fronts..
10.5 for the back right (with very little gas)
10.7 ish.on back left...so it evens out when i sit in it

gospeed81 11-05-2009 11:17 AM

So 10.25F/10.5ishR

That's pretty damn low. Sure looks nice...how's ride and handling?

Btw. Running to UPS as soon as I get out to go up to library.

popesatan 11-05-2009 11:26 AM

it rides just like a daily should..
and for the handling, i try to make it to the mountains at least once a month.
it takes the corners well as long as they have a little bank to them, otherwise i get mad under steering.
but that just adds the the fun.

This, and yes :noob:, everyone knows Sportmaxxxxxxxxes are 0 offset.

Just so you know:

Not capitalizing "I" or your proper Name is a sign of low self-esteem, weakness, lack of character, or a self confidence issue.

If you want people to take you seriously...and assure them that they can believe you, then take the time to capitalize these pronouns. It will convery strong self prescence and confidence.
