Default Hello from Texas!

HI everyone,
After owning a FRS for about a 2 years, I thought it was time for a new toy. 6 months ago, I bought a 97 Miata. Been doing a lot maintenance work on it including bushings, timing belt, radiator, replacing alot of interior parts etc. I found a lot of good info on this site! I'm actually about to buy another 1991 Miata for parts. I was planning on installing a bilstein hard s from a 2001 but decided against it. So that should be on the classified soon. I'll post pics of my miata when I get home.

I still have the FRS. I go back and forth from Temple to Dallas every weekend and was putting alot of miles on the FRS. I got the miata to save some miles on the FRS. I really wasn't planning on getting performance parts for it but that's quickly changing. I actually enjoy driving the miata more than the FRS. It could just be that it's a newer toy.

lol..only time will tell I guess. I honestly got tired of working on the FRS. Only thing left to do on the FRS was forced induction and wasn't ready to do that on a newer car.

So got a question for yall. I'm offered a 1991 miata with no exhaust manifold (they were trying to add a turbo but apparently never finised) for 1500. I was told it is "mechanically sound" but shouldn't start it without a manifold. Also the car comes with a hard dog roll bar, koni yellow with GC and has torsen diff. Also including a turbo manifold and intercooler. What do yall think?

Is it a torsen from a 1.8?
1.6 came with a weak lsd or open. Both 1.6 diff have very little value. I gave a 1.6 lsd to a friend cause I couldn't get 150 off local Craigslist.
Some one else will chime in but not sure how much cross over 91 to 97.
Motor, diff, ignition coils, cas, etc are different.
What do you want the 91 for a parts car or a runner?

I'm looking to buy just for the coilover and roll bar and sell the rest. Not a good idea?

It is a horrible idea, nothing on that 1.6 car is worth anything. You are better off spending that $1500 on coil overs and a roll bar on their own.

a 1991 parts car is no use to you.

if you need parts for a miata, walk outside and you'll trip over some.

Ah ok. I was actually thinking about getting it running and selling. It has 180k. Still not worth it?

Is the body and everything else really clean?
If so it might be worth it but I am guessing it's not.
If it's in bad shape or even marginal shape body and interior wise sounds like a lot of work for little money. If that's your idea of fun go for it but you will be doing it for the experience not the money.
