hey from "wonderful" orlando

i've recently decided i really, really want to make some power from my miata and i have decided that n/a is a really, really expensive way to do so.

since i'm broke i've figured a budget low psi turbo setup would get me exactly what i want until i have the cash money bling bling $$ for something a little more. :)

:noob: warning!

since i always have to ask a most wonderful question in a first post, is a FMU/FPU/AFPR that bad of an idea for reliability? i want to make a setup that is extremely reliable and where i will simply be able to turn the car on and go without worrying TOO much.

(im also thinking of picking up a pretty cheap already semi-partial kit that includes a t25, manifold, downpipe, and some quality fittings)

ah and as for now... if you live in orlando you will know my car the second you see it. :giggle:

Since you mention the idea of eventually increasing the boost, do yourself a favor and start with a MS instead of band-aids.

It isn't all that complicated and there is a lot of people running them if you need support.

baby picture, sorry. :(

the sticker says 'busting makes me feel good.'

also the reason i really wanted to start with a fuel reg setup is because ive come across enough extra money to build a low psi setup and i'm honestly pretty satisfied with the car as it is, i just want that little extra kick. i know what my budget is and i know what i want to accomplish. it will be at least 6 months until i can afford a proper megasquirt and what i'm aiming for right now doesn't need it.

I would say wait the 6months until you can afford the mspnp. It will save you in the long run when you eventually want to up boost.

Then you can change the sticker to 'squirting makes me feel good'.

If you want to do things properly you buy the MS first. Install it and get it running. Then you buy properly sized injectors. Then you get some boost. Most people find it really hard to stay under 6psi. Some actually have self control.

If you really want to run a budget setup that is fine, but you may end up spending more money in the long run.

I actually run a voodoo box with 6psi. It works pretty good but, I have a MS now waiting to be installed.

I think I have enough money for JUST a MSPNP.

Would this give me any noticable difference in any way at all?

I don't want to spend $700 and then wait a year until I can see any kind of a power gain. :(

isnt your car an autotragedy?

Welcome. I've been putting together my own budget kit for like 6 weeks with all the band-aids (like FMU) and I'm already wishing I had just spent more time reading and did it right from the beginning.
