my name is luke and I am 21 years old. I am currently going to school full time and working..I have a 2000 miata that is pretty clean imo. does need a fresh paint job though..it has a 1.8 and runs great however the miles are starting to pile up (190k). so I am starting to do my research on what to do next as far as engine swap, rebuild and go turbo, or buy a rebuilt engine with a turbo.. hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction..
Goals: 250-300 hp while still being a reliable daily driver

Welcome.

Mileage of an engine means nothing as long as the compression is good/even across all cylinders. Perform a compression test at minimum, but preferably a leak-down test as it will tell you far more about whats going on in with your engine.

If all looks good and you stay within the "safe zone" of 220-230wtrq, you should be fine for many miles of boost glory and the genital enlargement that comes with it.

You should also list more information about your car. What transmission and rear end do you have? You mentioned 300hp, is it safe to assume 300 crank power or are you planning to hit 300whp? Have you ever ridden in a 300hp/whp miata? Have you ever ridden in any turbo miata? Have you looked into what is needed for that power? How confident are you with a wrench? What color are my socks? Why am I wearing socks in Florida? Do you wear socks? What color are your socks? There are so many thing you need to tell us.

Things you can do tomorrow:
1) lose the fake roll bar. If you roll the car the aluminum hoop will collapse forward and crush your head/neck and kill you instantly. Take it out immediately.

ok forgive my newbness in advance.
im going to take baby steps,
i removed the "style bar" today and i am planning on doing the compression test tomorrow..
and i have the torsen lsd
i have always done oil changes on time but the car is strarting to overheat,
i found a 1.8 out of a 94, would this fit?
if so i am planning on building this one, getting necessary parts to run a safe and reliable boost..
any thought?

These things are in no way related to one another.

Your new bumper cover is likely why your car is overheating. When it was installed the plastic ducting that sealed the radiator to the bumper mouth was removed and now air goes around the radiator and not through it.

thanks for the advice however i found something serious, when doing compression test i got the following resuslts
(from front of car to back)
1st- spark plug came at drenched in oil and psi of 90
2nd- spark plug also drenched in oil and psi of 100
3rd- spark plug came out with no oil and psi of 100
4th-spark plug came out drenched in oil and psi of 110

the oil shows no signs reaching my cylinder just visual of it being in my spark plugs...i think it might be the valve seals??? any ideas?

p.s i need a hug

You said in post one your car runs great. Plugs wet with oil don't come out of engines that run great.

Probably just a valve cover gasket. I've had that happen to me as well.
