Hi!

Hi everyone. I've been lurking for awhile and had hopes to boost my 1997 Miata. Currently, I'm looking at an NA setup: 1999 head, 2001 intake manifold, possibly custom cams.

I'm really interested in a MegaSquirt setup as well. I've been autocrossing my Miata in the D.C. region for a few years now (STS2 in SCCA). I've decided to try and make a little more power and just enjoy the car a bit more.

I've also got a 2004 Subaru WRX that I switch between. I hope to meet a few more enthusiasts in the D.C. region.

The DC area guys are all jerks, no help there.:fawk:

Pics or ban? Sheesh, tough crowd. :)

I'll see if I can snap some...the car is really dirty now b/c of salt and dirt. Also, I've got the 7-spoke aluminum rims that are coated w/ perma-brake dust.

Basically I've got an 97 Montego Blue w/ hardtop. Team Dynamic rims w/ R-comps for warm weather. Konis w/ Ground Controls (550 front/350 rear), JR front and rear sways (front is the old HUGE bar), Racing Beat FSB brace, generic front strut brace, SS brake lines, Axxis Ultimate pads. Only performance mod is the RB intake.

Future plans:

1) install Hard Dog M2 roll bar
2) install new-to-me soft top
3) Torsen LSD (ebay item from Japan for $430 shipped - no carrier)
4) 1999 head
5) custom cam gears (from Fujiracing)
6) 2001 intake manifold

7) HOPEFULLY get someone to assist w/ the Megasquirt to take advantage of the cams, head, and intake manifold.
8) Custom exhaust w/ the RB headers
9) lightened flywheel and clutch (for an NA car)

If I get some $$$, I'd love to do a turbo kit.

I saw the thread. I know Kienan via Subaru stuff. He's quite familiar w/ the shop I work at - Andrewtech.

y8s 02-27-2008 10:01 AM

does andrewtech bore miata blocks? You know, at a reasonable price, for a distant distant yates cousin?

btw, 2001 motor parts coming on the market when fmowry gets his car on his lift and we pull the motor. I don't know for sure if he's sold the intake mani yet but it can't hurt to give you a heads up. he's near balt.

a buddy of mine just bought an 01 mani on ebay for like $70 shipped, should not be hard to find

1) no, they send that stuff out to a machine shop down the road (near TurboXS). I don't even get a hookup price for the head (make sure it's true, etc).

2) Oh, I bought the Intake manifold from a fellow Miata/Subaru owner. He's gone supercharger....so gave it to me for $50.

I met Frank A LONG time ago when he had the Forester. He came to Leesburg, VA to go shooting. Seems to be such a small world!

Welcome to the madness.

Anyone else think there should be a sticky in this forum with a list of requirements before introducing yourself?

saint_foo 02-27-2008 12:54 PM
