Hi

What's up guys. My name's Eric and I'm new to the miata as well as turbo community. Recently purchased a 91 miata off an elderly women for $800 in basically good condition. I've done a couple basic maintence to the car plugs, wires, gaskets, seals, etc. and now I decided to go turbo. Decided to go the non traditional route and picked up a full 1.8 swap and transmission off a 94 for 500 bucks. Picked up an sr20 t25 off a buddy for 100 bucks with an xs bov as well as a full IC setup for 100. The plan is to boost the 1.8 and make around 180ish whp on stock internals. I've been lurking on this forum for a while and it has definitely been helpful. Especially since I'm basically clueless when it comes to forced induction. Anyways, hi.

Actually, putting the 1.8 motor into the 1.6 is probably considered the traditional route. 180WHP is simple to do on this car, just make sure you have proper engine management and a well built manifold & downpipe. I noticed you said you swapped the transmission from the 94. You won't really notice any difference with that, so make sure to keep your 1.6 transmission as a spare. I'm hoping you also swapped the driveshaft, rear differential, and axles as well from teh 1.8, because your 1.6 rear end is going to fail.

The 1.6 diff is made out of wood, or maybe a hard aged cheese. It can break at stock power levels with good tires and hard launching.
