Looking forward to going through some posts here to start my new turbo build. This will be my first attempt. I have a me-221 coming friday and probably going to buy a ebay kit once i learn how to use the me-221.

3 things.

1) You will find that most people here run a MS and 90% of the useful threads on tuning are using the MS. All that means is that the ideas and techniques used are going to be more conceptual for you. If you are good with figuring things out you won't have any problems. However if you need any advice on the hardware or UI side you won't have any luck here.

2) If you spend enough time here you will learn that the majority of experienced turbo owners here have nothing but bad things to say about the eBay kits. The miata drivetrain is really tough on manifolds. Some manifold manufacturers that produce "decent" products for other platforms have trouble producing kits that will last two weeks on a miata. My advice for you (especially with you being in NC) is to look at the MKturbo kits. They are priced very well and seem to hold up far better than anything you will get from eBay. You will spend more replacing bad components from the eBay kits and having to fabricobble and work around stuff that doesn't fit well/breaks than doing it right the first time.

3) Yellow NBs are nice. :D

Good luck here. Just know that if you want to do things your way and choose to go against what people have learned here you will face some backlash and will need to have some thick skin. The forum regulars aren't assholes they just get tired of saying the same things 200 times just to have someone come back and whine that their engine is ruined or their manifold is cracked and they've had to weld it 6 times in the last month. The folks around here are quite knowledgeable and have helped me and countless others successfully learn about what it takes to do things the right way. Everyone here has already done dumb stuff so you don't have to.

He is correct!
Few will have positive things to say regarding the me-221, many will have negative remarks.

Only way to go budget turbo is MKTurbo.
He's sold lots of the systems, answers questions promptly, and is a ROCK when it comes to making his customers happy and BLOWN!
There are few (if any) negative posts regarding his systems.
His systems start budget but can handle serious HP, look to sonofthehills post regarding just what a "budget" system can do (sub 12 second 1/4 miles with a street car!)

If you can you should try to support the suppliers that are active on this forum.

Good suppliers are
MKTurbo (systems, support)
SuperMiata (Everything else!)
Force Flow (injectors-fuel stuff)
Kraken (Higher end turbo stuff, nice but overseas)
Sad-Fad (suspension-bushings)

MKturbo is at the top of my list. I like that it also comes with exhaust that I want to upgrade anyway. Will definitely try and support some of the suppliers here. I was just trying to be in a hurry, after buying wheels, tires, coil overs, ecu, steering wheel it put a pretty big dent in the old bank account. I can slow down and probably do the mkturbo with intercooler. Thanks!
