Default Noob in Cali looking for Turbo Miata

Hi There,

I am new to this forum and new to Turbo Miata, however I am not new to Miate. I owned a 95 R Package a while back and set it up with M45 Jackson Racing supercharger, Tein Flex, and autox the car a bit.

I am looking for a Turbo Miata that can yield around 250 - 300 WHP with a good suspension package for track day use.

I am hoping to find good information regarding reliable turbo Miata for track days.

Thanks for the warning. I will spam in the Newb forum...

18psi, I see that you are in Sac, how do you get your car smoged? This is one of the main concern I have that's holding me back. I would think a car that's 2200 lbs with 300HP, balanced suspension would be awesome at the track but I am scared to death about smog every other year. I used to race 95 R in CSP and just loved the car, later added supercharger. But since I live in a condo I don't have the space for a trailer so I have to drive my car to track hence the SMOG. Thanks.

Getting 300HP smog legal is going to be very very tough. I would suggest starting with a 94 since it is the 1.8 motor and OBD1. Then you will need to call Begi and get a smog legal kit. From there it all depends on how good you are at adapting things to still look legal while not being legal.

For 300hp at the wheels you are looking at a fully built motor, and a Garrett 2871, and Track Speed Engineering Inconel Studs.

Welcome!

Here's my idea. Get yourself a smog legal kit, play with it a little to get to 240-250 whp and it'll still blow your mind and almost everyone else's at the track

Last time I smogged it I swapped EVERYTHING back to stock and passed with flying colors.
Its a pain, but takes me about a day to swap everything and only once every 2 years, so I don't mind it THAT much. Plus I used it as an opportunity to upgrade pretty much the whole setup

I have heard of a few places that will be able to "hook you up" for $250.
Unfortunately the one place I knew that does it doesn't anymore, so you'd have to ask around on that.

If you're seriously looking for a car, come check mine out: I'm considering a new project so I'd let it go for the right price

Sorry I should clarify my statement, I meant 300 HP not 300 WHP.
