Hi, noob guy from Greece, riding a NB 1.8 with minor mods

Hi there,
nice to find you guys. I am a proud owner of a nearly stock '99 1.8 miata. I bought it 7 years ago and right now it has nearly 100k km. That's 62k miles for you :)
During the first years of driving the car, I engaged myself to several autocross events, which led me to some moderate but important upgrades.
The most important upgrade is the short gear ratio. You see, the OEM 5speed gearbox was switched with a 6speed one, which normally comes with a longer gear ratio. So the combination makes for a quick short close-ratio transmission.
Being quite keen on DIY I installed a Hard Dog rollbar, together with a set of door bars, which really stiffened the car. Later I upgraded my suspension with a TEIN Super Street and a complete set of bushings for just about everything: suspension, engine mounts, gearbox, diff. I enjoyed the advanced responsiveness that comes with the cost of increased noise and vibration...
Then I had to upgrade the seats, as there was no side support at all, but wanted them to look pretty too. So I installed two Sparco Roadster semi-buckets, to me the nicest Sparcos ever, and covered them in black leather, making them, maybe, the most attractive seats I've seen in a miata so far. Check the pics at my gallery to get an idea.
In the engine bay, the only updates I've made is a custom made intake, which I consider being Cold and Massive. I can give more details if you are interested (but I guess you aren't a lot, lol). And also a lighter flywheel and a stronger clutch set.
I really like my car, especially due to the short gear ratio, I enjoy the responsiveness of the wheel, the suspension and the engine.
Of course I would like so more power... which is the reason I found you...
Until last year I was a big fun of SCs and was only thinking of fitting a Rotrex kit. However, I now believe that a small turbo would probably fit my needs better. You see I am also concerned about consumption and to my understanding and knowledge, when off turbo you are pretty much stock in mpg (more or less), compared to an SC kit that is always there producing power and consuming energy.
Anyway, I will drive myself inside the forum threads and come up with specific questions that might need your answers.
Oh, did I mention I am 39 years old?
Nice to meet you, and I hope to stick around.

Welcome!

Pretty car and awesome seats, man!

I bought the same year and model with the same mileage as you have now :)
I wanted a SC myself, but I tried an ITB Miata and was immediately sold.

Yes, a proper turbo car will get even better mileage than stock. A supercharged car will always get worse power than stock.

Welcome to the forum. We have several members and a vendor from Greece here. Post up pics and videos!

It sounds like you will love a GT2554. How hard is it to find garrett turbos overseas?

Pick a rock, any rock. There's a garrett under every single one.
