Default Newbie from the netherlands

Hi everybody!

My name is Gert Van der Stappen. 28 years old and live in the netherlands.

Last year my dad bought a NB FL 1.6 and i was in love....
So we bought 2 miata's. A white NA and a Green NB FL
The white NA my girlfriend drives.

The Green NB FL is my new hobby project, and temperarly my dialy drive.

Some specs + pictures of the NB FL:

Mazda MX-5
Type NB FL
Year: 2001
milage: +/- 150.000Km
Engine: 1.8L
Power: 103 kW (140 pk)
max. torque: 170 Nm
Color: green

16" rims and 15" with winter tyres

It does have a few minor scratches and dents, but technicly 100%.

At my parking spot with winter tyres

I just mounted a coilover set of raceland wich i bought new for $210
The 16' rims i am going to sell, cause i hate them!

Coilover set of Raceland

Hmm little to low....

Result:

BEFORE:

AFTER:

It dropped about 5cm all round. If i went any lower, a would hev lots af problems with the speedbumps in this country...

And here som pictures of the white NA (with my winter rims....):

When there is a better day, i will make pictures with the roof down...

Welcome to the forum. It is good that we have members from so many countries. I agree that the 16 inch wheels must be replaced. They are not attractive at all. And 16 inch wheels will usually make you slower than 15 inch wheels because the weight is further out from the center of the wheel. Also they often weigh more than 15s of the same width.

Do you plan to install a turbo soon?

Well i am actually doubting between a turbo setup or a Supercharger...
Since it is a daily drive, i am leaning towards the supercharger.

Also i am getting 16" x 8J rims, so no 15". just like the looks better

A small turbo is much better than a supercharger. Better fuel economy, more power potential, easier to upgrade, more choices for upgrades, and they last longer if used correctly. Search for threads by Spookyfish about his experiences driving a turbo MX-5 on the street and tracks in the Netherlands and throughout Europe.

Go turbo. More power for less money.

A zero offset 16x8 wheel? Do you know how that will fit? Have you seen a MX-5 with that size?

Yep fits, seen several with the same rims!

And if not, we will make them fit... hahahaha

About the supercharger, its a daily, so therefore i prefer the specs of this setup.

maybe in the future, when this is not my daily anymore, i will change to a turbo setup.

So it has been a while
Update:

- small antenna
- TR Lane GPV rollbar
- ANTI-FLEX/DOOR BARS (putting those on Sunday.)
- dent repair without spraying (98 dents removed :( )
- welded sills (They had big holes...)
- got a twinscrew kenne bell supercharger setup with air to water intercooler.

test fit

had to remove a little corner

Drilled holes and put bolts

inside the wheel arch

the result:

and yes i know, it is dirty!

supercharger is in, but does not work yet.

still needs the following:
- connectors for the larger injectors (are ordered)
- weld extra mount for supercharger (in 2 weeks)
- kfdi motor management system. (hopefully in 2 month)
- 12 PSI pulley off, 9 PSI on
- fine tuning

hopefully this supercharger project is finished before December

ok still on the to-do list:

- finish supercharger project
- anti rust treatment (professional undercoat)
- fender flares
- Different color (surprice )

ok that was it for now...

Wow that rollbar and door bar looks terrible.

You need bigger spreader plates and someone that can weld to clean up those joints.
