Hi, time to torch some money

Hi there, as the title states, I have decided to start lighting piles of money on fire.

New to me is a 99 miata with 140k miles, Flyin Miata vmaxx coils, Flyin Miata sways, a destroyed clutch, and a body that is laughably bad condition. A perfect start :)

I have added new hexaform wheels with rt615k+ tires of the typical sizes.

On order is a super miata clutch, fidanza flywheel, and qmax coolant reroute.

In a box, pending smog success, is a speeduino which is flashed and ready.

Current plan is an exocet race frame with a gt2560r and associated goodies. My goal is to avoid building the engine and to have this mostly assembled and drivable by the end of the year.

Adding a turbo to a stock, 25 year old motor with 140k and unknown service history...
Recipe for a dramatic engine failure IMO.

Should be interesting for sure.

Panel gap?

Between the door and the bonnet, I'd say you have a 'project' there. Are you sure you don't want to flip it and start again?

He did say he's planning an Exocet chassis and they're not exactly straight anyway.

Haha, I'm stoked for the build man. Have fun boosting that 140k lump, and a plus is you won't have to worry about it as much while tuning it. And you can build another motor, or rebuild that one later.

As for the donor, I think it's perfect. I always see people taking super nice miatae to build an exo and it hurts, another gent on here (i forget his name) used a clean ass 10ae that kinda hurt me. This wont hurt, and will actually be an improvement for the beat up ole nb.

Keep us posted!

Thanks! I agree with you completely :)

LOL - reading comprehension: Fail.

Having just replaced the internals on a much fresher engine than your yours, I'm with Emilio, do the engine now - do it once, do it right. The bodywork would be the convincer for me, it does not look like a car overdosed on TLC

Welcome to the forum and good luck on the build. Subbed for updates.

The daisy wheels on an NB and sticker placement on the windshield tell all lol.

In all seriousness, stoked to see how the build comes out. FWIW, I boosted my car's motor at 197k and ran it no problem on track at 10psi until I sold said motor at 213k. That being said, I started building another motor at the same time and I'm only the second owner of the car. YMMV.

Goes without saying but compression/leakdown tests would be prudent. I'm in agreeance with the other guys, the current motor could be a dice roll.
