Howdy from TX

New here, I owned a N/A NA for 10 years and just bought a NB. Thought I'd get my post count to 1 on here.

Boost is planned for the future but for now I'm just de-crapping it from the previous owner (Raceland coilovers, seriously? Ebay style bar? I'd rather have the OEM stuff back.)

I've done nothing to it so far other than cosmetic mods and bought a new set of advanti storms in 16x8 that I'm still deciding on tires for.

Here's the car (in my messy-ass garage):

And here it is with it's siblings (BRZ is my DD, RX-8 will probably be for sale soon, need money for more mods) :

I'll be around here lurking all your posts, scouring the for sale threads trying to score some cool shit, and trying to learn so eventually I can do a DIY turbo.

EDIT: forgot to include my cats :

Howdy, from a fellow Texan down by Houston!

Poscat awarded for the kitties and yellow Miata.

16s aren't quite as common for the Miatas, but you've got the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71s or Hankook Ventus R-S4s in a 205/45/16 or you could run the Maxxis VR-1 in a slightly larger 215/40/16.
The biggest challenge is to keep the tire height at 23" or so.

And, of course, welcome to the forum. It's a great time to add boost to a Miata!

Thanks for the cat. Yeah I see everyone else running 15s but the car came with 16s so I just couldn't imagine going down a size. And I don't know if 15s would be an issue with the sport brakes or not. Is 23" the magic number to avoid rubbing or something?

I hadn't run across those Maxxis VR-1s, I'll have to check them out, I was almost settled on Continental Extremecontact Sport in 205/45.

Rubbing can be an issue with the Miatas, yes, so 23" or just under is key.

I didn't see the Continentals in the 205/45... but they come highly recommended over at MotoIQ (ExtremeContact SPORT write-up. )
A lot of 15" wheels will clear the Sport brakes, pretty sure the Storms in 15" will, as Goodwin says they'll clear their big brake kits.

But, hey, if you can run the Continentals and already have the 16s... why not?
