I've actually been a member since Jan 2015 but I've been lurking in the background for some time.

Now isn't the most ideal of times to introduce myself and my NA since it was hurt in a wreck just the other week :'( but nothing serious enough that kept it off the road


Otherwise, I'm no good at introductions but I'll give it a shot in the dark. I can be very talkative and inquisitive so try me on for size


My current wheels(s):
1993 MX-5 known as my 'Blue-eyes White Miata!'
1974 260Z known as Mr. Zed during business hours and Zeddy while off the clock :P


My plans for...
the MX-5:
A GT build with decent power (nothing crazy, just in the range of 350-430whp) and all the creature comforts. This is still my daily.

the 260Z:
Weekend pleasure car or 'Oh sh**, my daily is down and need a way to get to work for abit!'. For now it's simply a restoration to former factory glory with very little in the way of mods and aftermarket bits until further notice.


How I plan to achieve my goals?:
I'm not someone that follows the bandwagon or trends unless I can shift and shape it to my liking. Example, LSx swap my Miata? Let me know when hell has frozen over and boars possess the mental capacity to learn how to fly an F-22 Raptor in delta formation, then I just might; however, if LSx it is (or any large V8) I'd want a flatplane crank, cam with less jittery loping, big bore, short stroke, and high compression >
So this means you may occasionally see me starting a thread that might have an off the wall crazy question; like... setting up an ITB blow-thru setup and how to make it work and what decent S.R.T usable power can be had from a setup like that.

In that regard, I'm willing to break trends and set my own path (of course... while not pestering my bank for loans!) and see the outcome if no one else has tried it.







PS; new computer and just breaking it in. Next post I should have obtained me photos by then and can post some photos of the two

There is one major pre-requsite on this site for being "different" successfully. You have to be a baller builder/fabricator/know what you're doing, and you gotta do it, deliver the pictures/proof/goods.

If you're another one of those "dreamers", I promise you this forum is not for you. For now, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Oi, not a dreamer type just down on my luck. When I moved to this state I lost practically everything. Getting back up to speed is the hard part but I'm looking for land to set up shop on where the big things can finally take off. Right now I'm in some stupid house development (or whatever it's called) with cookiecutter houses and outragious homeowner fees especially if you're caught dirtying up their 'clean and peacful' image.

There likely won't be any viable photos for quite some time, if I'm honest other than typical parkway installation crap that I honestly couldn't be bothered with photoing or videorecording. I assume by 'baller builder' you mean someone with heaps of money to throw around? X me off that list then lol but I do like to experiment and make things from nothing and a buddy of mine has been egging me to cram an Audi 4 or 5cyl into this thing (I honestly don't see that happening considering how tall that power plant is but he has one for disposal when the time comes).

I figured I'd just get the intro crap out of the way then remain silent again but until I get my tools and place to tear this car and familiarize myself with it, nothing big should be expected of me any time soon.

Still learning the bloody thing and all it's gremlins. Kinda bought it without thinking straight just because it had pop-lights and is tiny (smaller than my Porsches!)
On that regard; ja, I'm liable to ask things that the 'all-knowing gods' here were likely born knowing before leaving the mothership. Like I implied before, I know nothing about these cars stock (other than a few typical OEM problems they have) so it's very likely I'm not going to know much about them with bolt-on mods or limitations with anything else outside of OEM especially.

Oh no not money nearly as much as skills. While there are some really expensive cars/builds here, for the most part this community is a bunch of cheap skates, and the more creative/skilled ones don't have much more than a couple grand into their setups. My point was that it's ok to be creative or think outside the box, as long as you're able to successfully carry out the plans and build a fast/fun miata.

Read up, this is one of the most commonly raced cars in teh world for a good reason

Nice! I take mine any and everywhere I can. Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, Annapolis, and Crowley were last year and some repeats and new places for this year too if I can.
As for the talent bit, well. For now my income will let me get away with petty interior stuff while not chasing checks or pestering the banks for loans lol Next promotion should give me a bit of a 'saftey net' and to get back to Florida to get my tools!

I certainly hope so! I've been browesing the ads section and already have a parts list in the works, just need to further my understanding of these cars.

The most raced bit I knew about but anything beyond that was all fuzzy. As far as I was concerned, I always had that stereotypical impression that miatas (the NAs and maybe the NBs) were cars for women or 'parents bought it for me' adolescents. Then my job had one come through wholesale. Manager came to me about it because he thought it was a Porsche (he's not too bright when it comes to cars of any sort but we love him still ). Anyway, he gave me the option to buy it. All I saw was white in color, pop lights, and low miles. I forked over money, he gave me a title, and both parties were happy... until I began realizing that poor thing was frighteningly underpowered! But having owned Porsches I realized one was made from cruisin' the USA while the latter was made from track inspiration.

Bottom line, I grew a lot of respect for these little things and want to learn more about them. Just lurking around some of the build pages (moreless... the ones that are seemingly near completion) has helped in that regard.


PS: For the books, and before someone asks, my screen name reflects my love of Porsches and Huskies (one is a money pit that will make you curse and rage but eventually smile on the road while the other is an uncontained arc-reactor that sheds and is often noisy or cuddle beast lol)
