I R New Here

On the suggestion of a helpful member of the board I am officially welcoming myself to your discussion board.

I am new to Miatas but not to tuning. I have moved here from tuning Honda Del Sol's. I got tired of the ho-hum handling on the Del Sol and the lack of support for the single cam D16Z6 engine.

So, here I am. Ready to learn from all of you and build up a boosted and built Miata.

My goal is too get 280-300 rwp out of a built and boosted engine. I want to work with cams, timing, and boost. I know that these little engines are capable of some great power numbers and I want to do the most with the best.

I also love handling. Not myself...well...anyway I like to drive the car. Straight line numbers are cool but there is something to be said for the drive. And from my experience the Miata can drive. That is the biggest difference from the Del Sol. Miatas handle soooo much better.

Anyway, enough. I am here and thanks for welcoming me.

I am not an expert in anything. I know that I do not know everything. I am willing to entertain anything.

Good intro, welcome! I came over from a CRX.. :)

welcome:)
280-300whp will be a shitload of fun.

Miata is the cheap mans sports car, and oh boy do we enjoy them.

shailoche 03-11-2009 12:10 AM

good I am cheap...err like cheap...i mean cheap is good.

Hey man, welcome aboard!

I like your intro. You'll be a valuable asset to this forum.

I'll pick your brains when you get familiar with the Miata :giggle:

Yours truly,

A "mechanically challenged" Miata owner :)

Another honda convert, welcome.

Miatas are so much more rockin' than any caliper badged car.

280-300whp is definitely do-able, but gets a good deal more expensive and involved than the 200-250whp range. If you want to be cheap like me, plan on a little over 200whp with options later to upgrade, and find ways to cut weight.

Getting much over 250whp involves things like rods and pistons/rings, a six speed upgrade tranny, and possibly some serious insurance like water injection and an oil cooler.

Welcome. What they said is pretty much right.

Welcome to the forum , I hope you enjoy your stay :)

I feel so at home here. Everyone is so nice.
:)

I am looking to have a built engine so that when I get set to turbo the thing it will be able to handle big boost and big horsepower. I did the same thing with my Del Sol. I put in rods, pistons, cams, sleeves, and valves then boosted the hell out of it. And, the thing is still running.

I like cheap fun, but once I build something and spend all that time and effort...I want it too last.

lol about the tissue rub :bowrofl:

Hustler is what makes the forum fun :giggle:

Yeah he said some really crazy stuff the other day....something about the guy being gay and democratic supporting Obama and some other things. It was funny but I felt bad for the guy who got flamed.

But the dude who got flamed was responsible...he made some bullshit claims about AEM versus MS and Hydra fuel management. Posted a doctored dyno pull and made some statements about not sharing fuel management tuning information because the tune belonged to the tuner....and WHAM...flame on...

18psi 03-11-2009 03:31 PM

you're talking about ray 6 sir vs everyone in here fight? :giggle: ray is a douche

shailoche 03-11-2009 05:01 PM

I don't want to judge...but that whole line of discussion was out of control. I have learned that if you don't have proof you don't post. Stating opinion should be just that....I like x for x reason....not it is better because I say so....

Anyway, you see what I mean

I still don't want to be on the receiving end of Huslter's rage.

Let me say it in my own language: hustler is "mucha espuma y poco chocolate" :giggle:

He's really a very nice guy. We enjoy his imagination. :)

Funny... a little dark with a lot of foam? I am missing something here? Spanish is my second language so I am assuming that that has some "hidden" meaning or is a colloquialism.
At any rate...it is funny...no PHUNNY. note the ph means more. AAHAHAHA

The translation won't make too much sense but I'll also provide a similar english one.

Let's see if I can make sense of it; what it says is "a lot of foam and not too much chocolate" (you can also put coffee instead of chocolate. In Europe, we drink a lot of coffee and chocolate made in coffee vending machines which come out with a lot of foam) which is something similar to "a lot of fizz and not too much soda" :)

Sorry, it wasn't my intent to confuse you. I just revert to my language when trying to make a point. :)
