Hi, guys Im new here. Just thought I would introduce myself and my V12 miata.

Braineack 10-06-2008 10:03 AM

we've all seen it! needs more boost ;)

samnavy 10-06-2008 10:43 AM

It's nice to see somebody rolling a $10k motor on stock daisy's and a $40 eBay steering wheel.

BB, how about a quick run-down on the build of that car, goals, process... or do you have a website of your own? And for the love of hairless cats, put something in your signature!

airbrush1 10-06-2008 12:31 PM

Wowowowow

I really enjoyed reading your build thread at miata.net. Thanks for coming over and sharing the pics.

Time for some 9" wheels.

Braineack 10-06-2008 12:43 PM

you forgot the 1 in 19"

Ben 10-06-2008 12:46 PM

9" WIDE. 15x9 FTW

Don't you know width is more important than length?

ArtieParty 10-06-2008 12:52 PM

I like how the harnesses are attached to the style bar. That'll help you tons if you flip it.

Nice engine though. I'd daily that.

Thucydides 10-06-2008 02:58 PM

I want to see a photo with the hood down, so I can see what the fellow next to you at the light sees. Great car, great motor, and great project. Welcome aboard.

Oh yeah, post your location and exactly what it is you're running under that hood in your signature; it will save lots of questions later.

18psi 10-06-2008 04:51 PM

we've all seen it before....we all drooled...welcome

Toddcod 10-07-2008 08:19 AM

How does it perform, gear ratio's, and pic with hood down.
Looks Great.
ps. I don't think you can pull the sleeper look off with that motor sticking out the hood. lol

what do you suggest? 6 truboz?

cjernigan 10-07-2008 09:05 AM

I wanna drive it. My turn, my turn.
Looks like a fun project. I have zero hands on hours around 12 cylinder engines.

If your ever in the Saint Pete, Tampa Florida area come on by, I will let you take it for a spin.

The style bar, and upper seat belts were added just for looks. I built the car basically because I was tired of V8 conversions.

My goals. I have had many race cars, my last project was a 1987 suzuki samurai with a 408windsor in it that ran 9.90's in the quarter mile. I will include a photo here. For the miata I wanted something more streetable. What was important was 400ish h.p., run on 93 octane, and can hit the highway for 50-100 mile trips. I also wanted more of the european exotic feel to it. Most of all I had to build something the girlfriend wouldnt mind riding in. The style bar and upper seat belts were added just for looks. Its also still in the finishing stages so I have alot to do to the car before its ready for the street. Could I have put a V8 in it with more power and less weight? Yep , sure could of. But for me it was more about how I made the 400h.p. I wanted the V12 look and sound, and just wanted something someone else hasent done 500 times before.

Stealth97 10-07-2008 12:23 PM

holy damn. lots of win here.

hustler 10-08-2008 09:50 AM

i think this dude scored and swapped a v12 into a miata before I could do a simple turbo build, lol.

Newbsauce 10-08-2008 10:18 AM

I like the car, would also like to see pictures with the hood down.

I get that you did the style bar "just for looks", but that is kind of the miata equivalent of putting "neon" lights on your car. They are just for looks, but only flamers do it.

icantthink4155 10-08-2008 11:22 AM

...how do you know your RPMs? Seriously though, wheres your speedo? Also, wheres the videos? I wanna hear it! And please dont compress that shit with youtube ffs put it on streetfire or something.

Ben 10-08-2008 12:03 PM

Hmmm
Lots of win here, but a second look makes me want to say needs more radiator.

I count the dashes on the road then divide by the time for my speed. lol...

I'm still building the car. I havent had the time yet to research which speedo is going to work with my trans

I'm working on the cooling system right now, so the hood isnt on the car right now, and even if it was, I havent decieded if I am going to put a hood scoop on it, or leave it open. I may leave it open so I can get the free water injection if it rains, lol

I guess you guys are not in favor of the style bars then.

Ben 10-08-2008 12:40 PM

Don't let the haters hate. I've never seen a style bar "mousetrap". And I have seen a miata roll with a style bar.

*I'm not advocating the use of style bars as roll over protection.

Machismo 10-08-2008 12:47 PM

Welcome,
Saw you vids on initial build and start up.
Definately not the "norm".....
Love it!
Needs more sound clips. ;)

Do this.

18psi 10-09-2008 11:38 AM

leave it open....I think it would be a sin to cover up those beautiful itb's with a scoop

MX_Eva 10-09-2008 11:44 AM

unless he does like that Peugeot, because it'd be a shame not to drive the car or have the engine drown when raining.

92Miata 10-09-2008 12:53 PM

Maybe I'm just an engine :noob:, but what is that engine from (also didn't see the m.net write up).

Chris

92Miata 10-09-2008 07:03 PM

I saw it today and talked to him about it.. its a Jaguar(sp) V12. He said it should be good for about 400Hp.

I cant wait to see it together, And hopefully ill be able to learn alot of stuff from him in the near future.

Fireindc 10-09-2008 07:07 PM

God, please post more pics of this monster.

cueball1 10-09-2008 08:13 PM

Not every build can be about what's best, what's most efficient, what's affordable, what makes sense. Sometimes you have to do the insane and put a v12 in a Miata (or a big block in a Samurai)! That v12 has to sound fantastic. Does it handle great? Meh. Who cares, that's not why you built it. It's nuts but cool as hell.

You may have noticed this forum can be a little rough. Don't let that bother you. Most criticism comes from the desire to help and improve your project. Style bars won't get any love around here. It tends to be function over fashion in this neighborhood.
