Introduction
The introduction necessities:
I have been reading for over a year and now need to post with specific questions I have not found addressed on this forum. Houston, Texas Retired Engineer 2002 purchased new, 160K miles, 80% highway. All factory bracing plus FM frame rails. Suspension work done. Energy Suspension bushings and FCM coilovers. 55mm Mishimoto aluminum radiator. Engine and drive train are stock. 5 speed and open diff. I want more horsepower and low end torque. I am aiming for 160 whp. I would like to stay with the stock injectors. At the top of the list is a BEGI S2 kit with a few changes. I will have an Innovate WBO2. I will probably add electronic boost control so I can easily change boost limit when running 91 octane, ECU will the the stock one reprogrammed. I have to pass annual ODB2 emision inspection. Reliability under wide-ranging conditions is primary. The Miata is a garage queen until called upon to do a touring vacation, i.e. 20K miles a year of road trip. The last road trip was coast to coast, border to border, 9 weeks, and 13,430 miles. The roads ranged from interstate to the curves of Western North Carolina, to an unpaved mountain forest road to find a waterfall. Temperature was 45 to 114 and altitude 0 to 11000 ft. I do not want to carry the tools necessary to do major roadside repairs. There is no budget although I expect to come in at under $5K with me doing all the install. However, if it is important to me and it has value, I will spend for it. I want to be ready to road trip again by May 2011. |

off the wall comment: seems to me what you are describing is a miata gtd (borrowing the term from vw). low end power, fuel economy, light fun car. |
