Hi, I'm John from Leamington Spa in the UK. I work as an engineer for an automotive OEM and also do a bit of race engineering on the side.

I drive a BRG 1991 Eunos Roadster V-Spec with a 1.6L long nose and manual box and absolutely love it. About 110k miles on the clock, No major mods to speak of as yet, car itself is solid with only some minor surface rust in the driver side sill.

I'm looking to end up with a nicely put together sleeper which I can throw around a track 2-3 times a year. My plan for the car runs something like this:

Short/Medium Term:
- Cavity wax and underseal (budget £100, completion within a couple of months)
- MeisterR Zeta-S coilovers (budget £630, completion within a couple of months)
- 4 x Uniroyal Rainsport or other decent road tyres (budget £220, completion after MeisterRs)
- Alignment (budget £65, completion after MeisterRs/Tyres)
- MS ECU (budget £600, possibly DIY, possibly second hand MSPnP, possibly a Rev unit, completion by end of 2014)
- Wideband sensor (budget ~£200, before or same time as MS) - thanks Roger for the advice

Longer Term:
- Upgrade injectors (budget TBC, everything else TBC)
- Turbo installation (budget TBC, timing TBC, approach TBC, basically I'm here to learn as much as possible so I can start putting a plan together)

I'm an engineer, which means my brain is not happy with not understanding things. I recently actually had the option to purchase a second mx5 with turbo install in place but didn't go for it because:
a) I want to learn by doing and
b) simply moving a turbo install from one car to another seems like a recipe for trouble

I want to take a softly-softly-catchy-monkey approach with this thing as I want to do it right. FI is a challenging mod to accomplish and I intend to give it the respect it deserves rather than just smashing on a second hand setup with no understanding. The final result needs to be fast and reliable. I'm setting a target of around 180 whp and aim to achieve that within a £2000 budget.

I'll be keeping my head down, using search/google and proceeding with cautious optimism.

Good to be here.

You'll want a wideband before (or at least at the same time) as the MS. You're not gonna be able to tune the MS without it.

Learning already, thank you.
