Miata Noob...

Hey folks, just checking in. This is my first Miata which I picked up in October. It's a 1990 and I purchased it the way it sits now, with the hardtop, 17" rims and Potenzas, Tokico HP's, lowering/stiffer springs, thicker front and rear anti-roll bars, upgraded rotors and pads, etc... Nothing done power wise. Pretty original car with the orig. paint and nice condition interior, etc... I've always been a Datsun/Nissan Z car fan the majority of my life (owned '71 240Z (very original, upgraded the suspension), 300ZX Turbo (modded), 280ZX, all which were real nice) and didn't think about Miata's too much but I must say I'm a fan now. I'm quite amazed at how well the car handles. I would love to do a turbo kit but other things require my money (wedding, house, college, etc...) so I will have to live vicariously through all of you! :ugh2:

Below is a pic. I still need to buff, polish, wax the paint as it's a little oxidized right now.

If there's any Z car fans out there, here's a pic of the 240Z I had:

I'm located in southeastern Wisconsin. I'm hoping by April 1st I'll get the Miata out on the streets.

I wish my paint looked that good!

Only thing I can say is, get some smaller rims.
Oh and welcome!

OldSkoolFool 03-13-2008 03:43 PM

Thanks for the welcome. One thing I wouldn't mind is some different rims. Maybe some nice 16's. Thinking about posting in the classifieds to see if someone will want to trade.

Time for boost

You will get the bug soon enough.

17`s FTW ;) mines orig pant to aha my hoods a little oxidized and a little dents here and there thats why shes getting a nice frest coat of paint this year:D

Zabac 03-14-2008 11:45 AM

to get money for miata, you can always cancel your wedding and move back in with parents and drop out of school...there ya go

lose the 17's, try local sales, i doubt anyone here will be interested in 17's except miataz, but he already has 17's

welcome, and thats a damn nice Z there

OldSkoolFool 03-14-2008 05:15 PM

Trust me, I have tried to find ways to strategically get more money for the Miata. I might just end up selling a kidney.

I have checked the local craigslist ads, other forums, and dare I say... even checked a Honda forum to see if anyone had some nice 16's or 15's for sale. I wouldn't mind losing the 17's but wouldn't want to do it unless for a straight up trade.

I'll have to post some pics of the car after I get it cleaned up.

Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, post your location in your profile.

Finally had the time and the weather was nice enough to clean up the Miata. Buff'd w/ compound, buff'd w/ glaze, waxed, etc... and it turned out better than I figured it would. Hard to tell a difference in the pics I guess but it's a huge difference in person.

I like the outlined Miata in your signature, looks happy, with eyebrows. ;)

miataz 03-17-2008 03:08 PM

yea person it is alot easier, my hood is oxidized and when i polish my car dont like wax it look like it just got a paint job but it takes me a good hour or more and my arms are sore for the rest of the day lol

Trent, :bowrofl: please explain this post and why are your pants on fire? :giggle:

Trent 03-20-2008 10:23 AM

haha. we had a newb spamming every thread in the recent threads list to get to 10 posts. He came in here and just typed "como esta?". With that gone, my post certainly seems out of place. lol.

InYubaSha 04-05-2008 11:59 PM

sure polished up nice!
I've only got the hood done on mine, too much work manually LOL

Hot95MiataGuy 04-06-2008 02:29 AM

Nice! I'm loving the hardtop. I actually like those rims on there. Looks real nice and clean.

I'm from Milwaukee as well, see you around!

Wow, WI turbo miata enthusiasts seem to be multiplying! :bigtu:
