Hello all you Miata owners. My name is Noah and this is my 1996 roadster. The car has 161,xxx on the ticker and runs like a top. It has a Flyin Miata front strut tower bar and Tokico Illumina shocks. It has eBay wheels with Optimo tires. I hope to turbo it next winter after I finish another project and get done with college.

oh

18psi 02-17-2016 09:15 AM

welcome

some punk kid sticker bombed and ruined your car, you should call the police if you see him next time.

miatam8 02-17-2016 09:55 AM

Haha.
Girz0r - I like the way it looks, so I maxed the camber.

18psi- I know. He sticker bombed my headlight covers, instrument cluster hood and my finish panel. Damn punks.

goodbye

Girz0r 02-17-2016 10:15 AM

Get out.

Also, how're you not blind from the reflection of the maaaad stickrz on your cluster hood? That would drive me nuts.

miatam8 02-17-2016 10:15 AM

Oh. I didn't know it was your build. I'm sorry. Should I have less camber?

miatam8 02-17-2016 10:15 AM

If I wear sunglasses it helps

Yes, :likecat:

And your tires will thank you for it. :burncash: :burncash: :burncash:

But hey, your money your build :eggplant:

Is this your end goal?

18psi 02-17-2016 10:20 AM

serious question: how can anyone with eyesight think that disgusting panel looks cool?
Like what about that makes you think it looks good?

and don't say "to be different" cause your car looks just as stupid as 100000 other stancekids and hardparkers rides, except it's not even stanced, it looks like a stock car modified by a 3 year old who got a bunch of free stickers at the dentists office

miatam8 02-17-2016 10:20 AM

The tires I got were free.99 from a buddy, I might buy better ones come autox season, and it's not my end goal, but I think it looks pretty neat.

18psi 02-17-2016 10:23 AM

I say this with all honesty: it's ugly as sin. this isn't subjective, this is objective truth.
but I'm sure you will just call us #haterz or something else equally typical

good luck with........whatever you're doing

aidandj 02-17-2016 10:40 AM

Hehe, blinker fluid cooler. I giggled :giggle:

Welcome to the forum. Autocrossing is good. A lot of us do track days here so function over form rules this forum. Keep your chin up. There is a lot of good info here.

Thanks. I've never really modified a car, so I'm a big noob at this.

I am going to drop some knowledge on you then.

1. Buy a MS and a wideband. Learn to tune the car while it is stock. Spend 6+ months doing this.
2. Buy Flowforce injectors from Trackspeed Engineering. Install them and retune fuel.
3. Install a stronger clutch. FM or ACT are the only brands you should spend money on.
4. Install turbo setup. Retune your fuel table for boost.
5. Pick up guys.

As a noob to modifying, is the PnP MS or the DIY MS easier?
Or could you point me to the general direction to find the information.

shuiend 02-17-2016 04:36 PM

Do you know how to solder?

I honestly would say to buy a MS3X from braineack in the classifieds. There might even be a MS3X for sale still from dwink that would work.

miatam8 02-17-2016 04:38 PM

I know how to solder, but I haven't done it in a year and a half.
Thanks for the info!

Are you an EE in college? If not buy a prebuilt MS and skip trying to diy. You will thank me later for that.

I'm going to school to be a technician and we learned how to solder probably a month into my 1st year. I haven't had the need to solder much since.

Can you read a schematic and have you soldered on a circuit board before? If not, find a board in the trash and de-solder everything from it, then put it back on. You will be fine after doing that

Thanks. I'll look around for an old circuit board and try it out. I can read a wiring schematic pretty well.

sixshooter 02-18-2016 08:47 AM

I would just buy one from Braineak or MS Labs.

psyber_0ptix 02-18-2016 09:42 AM

Just buy one, you'll be spending more time fixing other things on your car, like camber and tail lights.

Keep the car running and spruce things up as they fail. Go nuts once you finish school and have income and can afford having another car during the downtime.

Girz0r 02-18-2016 10:05 AM
