More Zoom!

Hey all,
So after riding motorcycles for 11ish years, I decided to get out of that game (too logisiticy) and sold that two seat sports car and bought another two seat sports car, an '06 Miata Sport. So far I've been ripping it around the Texas hill country on all the roads I used to take the bike on and having an absolute blast doing it. This car is ridiculously fun! However, the one thing I miss from the motorcycle is the crazy acceleration (3.8sec 0-60 times). I'm not looking for motorcycle acceleration but I'd REALLY like to get up and go when I want to get up go! I miss passing cars at will...uphill...with a passenger....and luggage.

I'm learning that the options for NC turbos are limited, and paying almost as much for the turbo setup as I did for the entire car makes my eye twitch but I learned long ago that if you want to play, you gotta pay so we'll see. My big issue is I'm not sure of exactly what's involved so I'm here to read, listen and learn.

There's an NC build on here by AlbuquerqueFX, lays things out pretty well.

Definitely on the right track IMO. I originally bought a turbo miata to fill in for my motorcycle riding. Now I have both

First post. Mentioned reading, not one question asked... I think we have a winner.

Welcome. Go get an MS3 and then you will be on your way. Everything else.

Howdy.

Where in TX?

Hah! Yeah, this is exactly why I'm here. I started reading and watching videos about how to turbo, knowing that I didn't even know what I didn't know and almost first out of the box was "multisquirt...this" "multisquirt..that". I had to go hunt for what the hell a multisquirt was. Once I found out what it was and can do, I'm still not sure if my bucket of don't know got bigger or smaller.

I will say that looking into this project has got all my lever pulling, switch flipping, button pushing genes going full throttle. And thanks for the "Everything else" link. That there is a bunch of great information.

Houston. Well, south of Houston, Dickinson.

You mentioned you have a NC. Most of the advice on this forum is for NA/NB so it won't be overly relevant. Megasquirt is not the answer for you. You are lucky that the stock ECU is tunable so you don't need to go the standalone route.

What shuiend said. The information in that "everything else" link is helpful in principle in terms of helping you determine a mod path, but the options listed for products are not relevant.

Be cautious as you're reading around, make sure you're reading about NC stuff. The NC has a LOT of big advancements over the NA/NB, but because of that, there's virtually no carryover.

If you need guidance for suspension and handling, and some pointers for power, Good-Win Racing has done some great work with NC's, and they're a GREAT group I'd be happy to give my money to.

For power..... maybe wait a minute. The FAB9 kit does seem to be (by far) the best kit on the market, but their reputation is a bit shaky these days around here. They do seem to do better with their own products, however. If I were buying an NC turbo setup, I'd still be going Fab9.
