My name is Phatspud, and I'm a ricer.

-Hi Phatspud.

Long time lurker, finally made a post so I figured I'd come out of the closet say hi. I post much more over at ClubRoadster, so some of you may recognize my trolling me from there.

Myself: Houston/Austin Texan, about to graduate UT with an artfag degree (wish me luck). I've been autocrossing for about three and a half years, and I'm still just getting my feet wet with trackdays. I know a bunch of you dudes around here are from Texas. We might run into each other at a Spokes or Houston SCCA autocross, and I hope to make it out to a few of the upcoming TXMC events.

My car: 1997 Brilliant Black, currently 80kish miles. This is pretty much how she sits at the moment.

Fairly stock aside from some suspension, wheel, and tire stuff. Tein SS 8/6, FM front sway, 15x9 Gen II 6ULs, and 225/45 RS3s. Lots of those odds and ends that nickel and dime you to death. BF Clearview roll bar. Rice bits here and there, which for the moment does not include the GV lip which got some impromptu restyling done by a cone. NO TURBO, oh my gawd.

Future plans: I'll probably stay N/A for a while, half because I still have room to grow as a driver and half because I don't feel like sinking the money into it right now. However, I'd like boost in my future, so I hope to glean lots more good information from you guys and contribute wherever I can. Also I am interested in getting some sick lambo doorz, do you guys know which kit is best?

I look forward to a gentle, courteous forum experience with all of you.

Edit: I know my name's stupid, I didn't exactly choose it carefully.

:giggle: Nice intro.

Fag, damn sexy car though, nothing quite like a nice clean black NA with a set of nickle 6UL's and a front lip that's NOT rubbing on the damn ground. I vote ditching the tan leather and getting a black cloth interior though, and of course, a little somethin somethin under the hood wouldn't hurt ;)

phatspud 03-29-2010 02:28 AM

The leather kills me in Texas. I have to peel myself out of the car after a long drive.

miatamania 03-29-2010 12:11 PM

lmao.

Welcome Noob. Great intro, good looking car.

We are very gentle here. :pitlab: lol

Good intro, some quality noobs lately. I really like how your car looks :D But then again, 6UL is almost cheating on making your car look nice.

hackingjack 03-29-2010 06:33 PM

Ditch the seats for something with actual side bolsters but keep the rest tan. Friend of mine has a black '97 with black interior and sitting in it is totally claustrophobic compared to my dark blue/tan '97. Interior color makes a huge difference visually.

Pretty car... the 6UL's look great on it.

phatspud 03-29-2010 10:51 PM

Thanks for the words and welcome, all. I do really like the tan interior, and overall mine has held up pretty well, so I'd hate to ditch it, but seats that hold better and get me further under the rollbar are on the to-do list.

I may stop by some HMC meetings if I'm in Houston over the summer - it looks like the club's growing and diversifying nicely these days.
