Hey guys, been a long time lurker of this site but thought I'd finally introduce myself. Just gotta say this site has provided some fantastic information and been a great help to me.
My car is an early na6 that I picked up about 2 years ago and I've done a number of modifications to it on my feeble uni student budget. Currently I'm running a 1.8 BP-4W engine with a coolant reroute, toyota COPs, DIYPNP ecu and e85. I'm also piecing together turbo bits and hope to have it boosted by the end of the year  Still haveto sort out an intercooler and it'd probably be a good idea to fit an oil cooler as well since I will be visiting the track. Flex fuel or straight E85?
|
Just straight e85.

Nice! Enjoy Bay looks so clean welcome to the forums and good luck with the turbo build, I'm actually in the works for a build for my na8, I'm from Australia myself :)

Thanks for joining, Barton!

Here's some more info about my car if anyone is interested.
About a year ago after learning about the DIY megasquirts and how cheap they were I couldn't resist so I bought one and put it together. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 Had it running great on the 1.6 for a while but then this happened :) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 I imported a nb8a BP-4W from Japan to swap the short nose b6 with. Being a jdm engine it already had EGR removed and came with a return style fuel rail which was handy. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 I cleaned and painted the engine up among other things as well as added some rx8 injectors and toyota cops while I did the swap as well. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 End result :D (intake was only temp) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1433990161 Right now I'm in the process of sticking a t25 turbo on it and getting some more seat time at the track. |
Looks good man!!
Welcome to the site! |
Welcome to the forum. That's a very clean engine bay compared to mine.
|
Thanks :) I thought that if I was pulling out the engine I might as well clean everything up while I'm there.

Very practical too for someone living in Australia where we have lots of snakes, this bonnet prop performs Double Duty as a Whacking Stick!
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1434077764 The valve cover and front timing cover are from a 323 Astina with the pop up head lights. I'm thinking of swapping it back for the oem mx5 stuff so I can use the 1999 cam and crank sensors. I assume they'd give more resolution than the NA CAS or should I not bother? |

Recently installed some coilover sleeves on my bilstein shocks. I used 7kg/mm 7" front and 5kg/mm 8" rear springs. I haven't measured the ride height yet but the front is around the height I want but the rear a fair bit higher and I can't drop it any further without having the spring loose pre load and drooping at full droop. I'm still using the NA top hats for the moment but will swap over to the NB top hats if I can make them fit soon. Can't wait to test them out on some twisty roads and the track.

Got some MSM bilsteins, integra speedthane and 1.5" ISC top hats. I cut the rear bump stops down to about 40mm but they ended up being too short and compressing too much so on large bumps the upper arms would hit the subframe. So I ended up just chucking the full 76mm bump stop on and it seems fine now but they're probably too long now.
Also my turbo manifold and dump pipe came in. Can't wait to get it on the car and make some boost. Still need to fab up intercooler pipes, get the rest of the exhaust made and sort out an oil cooler. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1439466101 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1439466101 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1439466101 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1439466101 |
You need to set the length of your shocks correctley not just cut bumpstops.
|
But I can't change the shock length on my shocks?
