New to boost, not to Miatas...
Hey everyone,
I've been a lurker but it's about time I introduce myself here. I've had three Miatas now... 1999 NB1: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...31cad1f8a9.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...5a9979e934.jpg 2002 NB2: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9a4158f6c3.jpg And most recently my 1992 NA6: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4d32aa2b37.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8666298387.jpg The 1992 only has 73k miles on it, I'm the second owner. Mods: FM Vmaxx coilovers 949racing 6UL - 15x8+36 (running 10mm spacers and ARP extended lugs) Roadstersport 4 exhaust Roadstersport hi-flo cat Hard Dog roll bar with padding and leather cover Lotus Elise seats on Flipside Custom brackets 4.1 Torsen rear end swap FM Happy Meal (stage 1) The plan is to go MS2 PnP + AEM wideband and then install FM's stage 1 turbo kit. I'm looking to make around 225hp: conservative but fun for spirited driving. |
Black one looks killer, where in NY are you?

The black 02 looks pretty good. What front end lip is that? I can't tell...would like to get my hands on it actually.

Question for everyone:
MS2 PnP or MS3 PnP? I'm not looking to make crazy numbers, the goal is 225hp with reliability and I know the tables are larger on the MS3 but am I going to really miss out on anything if I stick with MS2? |
What I have read is that the MS2 knock control isn't very good
|
Idle control improvement
|
New FW development work is being done on the MS3 platform. Therefore things that do not presently exist may exist on MS3 in the future, but not the MS2.
|
Lars just posted elsewhere that MS3 is needed if you want the MS to control VVT directly. You don't mention an engine swap, however.
|
No engine swap, running the stock 1.6.
I'm leaning toward the MS3, I like the future proofing ability if I decide I want to throw more money at this build down the road. |

I went with a ms3 mini off bofi racing, and its been working great for me for a few months now, its only $600 for a plug-and-play ms3, just missing some of the extra I/O.
