New but the turbo isn't...
I've had a pretty much stock Greddy in for about three years. Actually, it's only non-stock because I replaced all the bolts and silicone.
Gets me past the trucks which is about all I need. Cheers, Jon |
A stock boost greddy for 3 years? You must have the willpower of a monk.

Save some cash. Go big.:skid:

Unlike most folks, my motivation was simply being able to get by the slow movers on twisty roads. I've put about 85,000 miles of two-laning in all around the country the last 8 years.
I don't race, I don't care if it's the fastest, I don't drive 90--at least not all the time. I simply don't slow down when I hit the curves. I've even coast going down hill! For which I've been given much grief. |
You're like the guy that hasn't accepted and admitted yet that "yeah...it would be nice to have another inch."
jk I'm a little past Greddy power level...but have to have more. A decade on sport bikes may have warped my perception a little though. So what are your goals now? |
I had a 454 Chevelle, then a series of bikes. I got busted for drag-racing on the one and was forced to sell it. The same thing happened to the guy who sold it to me! About five guys in town owned the same car.
Then ran my last bike off of a railroad platform. With the help of some particularly wily friends. About that time something told me I was just a little to prone to testosterone fits. My first ever wise life decision... ;-) |
Oh, the last guy with the Chevelle totaled it in my high school parking lot and took out five teacher's cars. Including a very sweet Porsche.
And we're the generation that tells everyone to wear helmets and behave. Sheesh. |

And we're the generation that tells everyone to wear helmets and behave. Sheesh. I thought for daily driving VS STOCK! ... It is much better. and the fact that it spooled 400rpms later, doesn't bother me either. Yea if you are wanting 300hp, or a track race car, it is the wronge kit. But for someone that just wants a fast car, and keep it simple for daily driving. it isn't bad. You have got to try bumping it to 7psi though. Completely different car for just turning a knob. I personally would overtime, throw on a ebay intercooler $100, 1.8L injectors $30. A msd or bipes$30-$75. And run 9psi. You will feel like you have a Z28 for $175.00. And have the same gas mileage. But, if you like where you are at. Cool Welcome to the forum! |
Actually, I do have the Bipes installed. I keep the wastegate dialed back a bit in the summer, but I've probably had it as high as 6. I do like the additional power, but I was getting some pinging with someone else in the car so I dialed it back down.
I think I've solved a mysterious overheating problem (with an absurdly simple solution) that kept me not wanting to invest more so I may actually put on the intercooler I bought about 2 years ago. Doh! I didn't want to get caught up in the slippery slope with a new clutch, etc. Cheers, Jon |
GREAT!
I take it you have the stock fuel pressure riser. You just need a 12:1 disk and you can run 7psi without the IC. The stock injectors with the 12:1 disk are good for 7psi. If you install the I/C and 1.8L injectors, and the 12:1 disk, you should be able to run 9psi. Yea, the stock clutch will get weak after 6psi. Sounds like you are $30-50, from 9psi. The car will be a completely different animal! Make sure you wrap the bake resevoir to protect it from eat. A folgers can works good. lol |
Okay, you've lost me on the 12:1 disk. What is it? Something inside the riser/rail? I have the auxiliary fuel pressure regulator...
