New CA Member, looking at SC build info

Hi there,

I'm joining up because my 1994 Miata that I purchased in February 2016 burns a ton of oil, and needs a motor, and I'm looking to do a '99 engine build probably with a megasquirt and supercharger. I've been reading MiataTurbo.net for a couple days while I get into my research, and see a forum loaded with tons of great information and a cool attitude and vibe. I'm looking forward to posting, learning, building, and driving!

The car as it sits doesn't look too hot in its mediocre re-spray from a previous owner, faded Bride low max knockoff seats, and slightly rusty Hard Dog M2 Sport rollbar...but I've already done all the suspension bushings, gone to a better spring setup on the ground controls, brakes, pads, lines, fluid, and a master cylinder brace, rebuilt the shifter, and swapped the no-name stretched all-seasons on 6ULs for a set of Direzza Star Specs on 15x7 Koseis (friend in Texas got the 6ULs for his Miata). It really drives well except the engine's effectively shot, burning a half quart of oil as quickly as 50-100 miles. So I'm looking forward to a new motor!

Hi.
If you are installing a megasquirt and haven't spent anything on an engine yet, you should look for an 01+ for VVT.

+1 on VVT, and per my suggestion a MSLabs ecu.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll look into MSLabs. I was looking for a 99-05 motor and preferred the VVTs in my search but ended up with a 99 because it was local and a good price.
