New to Forum and Turbo

Hello everyone,

I purchased my 1996 M Edition two months ago after driving a Miata for the first time and instantly becoming hooked. I wanted to introduce myself to the community and share my plans for the car.
I live in the Sarasota/Bradenton, FL area and would like to meet with any turbo miata owners in the area.

My plans for the car are to initially hit 200 whp with a smaller turbo build on a college budget. I plan on doing a mostly DIY build because I have the tools and resources to pull it off, without dropping large amounts of money on a kit.
I am installing a coolant reroute as soon as I have a free weekend.

Currently installed parts list:
Cat-Back Cobalt Exhaust
Raceland Coilovers
Godspeed Rear Sway Bar
Konig Control - Silver 15''

Picture of the car from when I purchased it:

Sorry for the image sizes, the URL image host was not cooperating with me.
I look forward to being a part of the community.

Welcome. I was just down in Sarasota delivering turbo parts to other people in the area.

Good on you for rescuing that thing.
I actually fell back in my seat a little when that first image popped up.

Damn, that thing was hideous when you got it. It looks like an adult drives it now.

15in wheels are the proper diameter. You don't need an oversized rear sway bar on our cars. You need an oversized front bar.

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Tampa/Plant City area and there are a few more more on here that have turbos locally. Don't take advice from LilxMoises on the local forum. Nice kid, but he's lost.

Sorry for not responding, I have been sick. Thank you to everyone and nice to meet you all.

Hey great to see more people looking for super cheap built. I boosted my 1.6 for around 800$ (not including the megasquirt). I used an ebay cast manifold(people will hate cause its eBay but eBay cast is the same) "150$", eBay intercooler "75%" and piping "100$", purple nb2 injectors(that will work on the stock ecu if you go that way) "50 and and picked up a used garrett t25 off throtl for like 300$. I built a downpipe that connected the turbo straight to the mid pipe thing. You can do it really cheap with an fmu and O2 signal modifier (which I have if anyone wants them for cheap) I ran it on the fmu for around 3 mouths and it drove fine just a little rich at idle to stay in good afr's in boost. I would highly recommend a megasquirt though. even thought it is pretty pricey it will help with afr's, stability, and ease of use. Thats how I boosted mine for dirt cheap on a high schooler's budget. I know everyone tells you to save the money and go megasquirt... just do it and save yourself the headache and cost of buying things twice.
