Hello there,

I am from the Tampa Bay area but go to school at UF (hopefully that's not too offensive to some of you). I have always thought about F/I, but recently got a job that could support this dream. Right now it's pretty much stock mechanically (I have focused on maintinence and replaced pretty much everything but core components ie piston, rod, block), but I have done the "comfort" mods like new gauges, speakers, seats (Sparco to prevent my neck from snapping), etc. I have been getting into some autocrossing, and that's been a ton of fun too. I am building a DIYPNP to run N/A in the next couple of months, and as someone who is a first timer it has been quite a task. I have been reading every book I can find on tuning and turbo's, along with all of these threads, so research overload at this point. Anyway, here she is (and my cat back home in tampa, I know you guys like cats here ;)).

go to school at UF.
I'm sorry.

Welcome to the forum. Where about in Tampa are you from? Do you ever plan on tracking the car?

Go Gators!

Check out some of the local action. Tampa has a big Miata following.

I'm from the the Largo/Belleair area.
I would "like" to track but I don't want to end up in a wall or have reliability issues; however, I have been to a couple AutoX events and they have been a really good time. I certainly plan on doing more.

I actually grew up right off Indian Rocks Rd between East Bay and Ulmerton.

If you really are interested in tracking it then you should try it out N/A and you shouldn't have reliability issues as long as the proper maintenance and prep work is completed. As for putting it into a wall, its possible but highly unlikely if you aren't trying to drive above your skill level. The track is a blast and I would highly suggest it to anyone.

How's football going this year? What do you think about the Dawgs and the Noles chances... uh...oh, sorry 'bout that.

Welcome to the forum. Good intro, especially knowing to post cat pic. We'll help you if we can.

There is actually a perfect learner course in Gainesville behind the dragstrip. I don't know if anyone is using it these days, but some of us would get together and do a rental. It's short, tight, and easy on the cars for the most part. No walls to worry about, either.

Yea...about that. We still have a chance against the Noles though. The game is so emotionally charged it doesn't really matter what team is better that year, it's anyone's game.

Just researched it a little bit, I'll have to pay attention and see if anyone ends up holding any events there, or try and get something organized. Thanks for bringing that up!
