New guy in Fort Walton beach, FL

Hey guys. Just picked up a Silver 99 Miata w/ 128k. Runs well... the plan is to turbo this in the near future. Been spending hours researching, trying to get the hang of things around here. Was pretty set on getting some sort of kit... but after seeing all the info on here I really want to piece together my own setup. Surprised to see all the chinachargers guys are running here...but you can't ignore the success people have had either! (will probably get a chinacharger myself).

Damn 2.94 a gallon

Hope putting 93 in there if your going turbo donk!

I am used to putting 93 in the speed3... I wasn't sure if the 99 required premium or not, so I put it in just to be safe (it's only a few dollars more per fillup anyways, i dont know why some people make such a huge deal over it)

I am trying my hardest to wrap my head around this turbo sizing...terms etc, but I still have a lot of questions. Maybe someone can help put me in the right direction? Basically looking for a GT2560 equivalent that's made in china and journal bearing. I've found several that's very close from searching around the many threads on here. What is the preferred turbo flange setup. And by that I mean... some of the turbos have flanges on the inlet and outlet (compressor). I'm used to just attaching with some silicone and clamps, what's the deal with the flanged compressor turbos?

I'm a little hesitant to post a noob question thread, hahaha. I'm a long time member and moderator over at mazdaspeedforums.org... I know it's fun to give the new guy a hard time.

Read the FAQ fag. Print out the chart from the garrett website and compare to the specs posted on the Ebay listings. Id say get speedyracer's gt2870 get someone to make you a cheap tubular manifold, complemented with a 3" DP/exhaust combo, and call it a day.

thanks for the specific recommendations.. sounds like a good place to start. i have checked out the FAQs and written down the garrett specs and all that, sorry!

It might not run to good with that $2.94 a gallon diesel.:dunno:

^ lol, I didn't even notice that.

I drove to Alabama to get it..on the way we saw some crazy high gas prices, 2.94 wouldn't have surprised me

well that's only the hardware. You need to look into engine management. also

of course. Looks like my best route is DIYPNP.. and I see Braineack sells them pre-assembled, which is sweet. I was reading the DIYPNP guide for 99-00s and it was talking about buying this and that...soldering this to that, and I didnt really feel like messing with that aspect of it all. I'll probably get that first before any turbo hardware, and start to learn my around with it

Yep, the protocol seems to be Management>injectors/wbo2>learn to tune>boost

Looks like you've got the polished hollow spokes, light wheels.

Clean car, welcome.

aaronc7 07-09-2010 02:48 PM

thanks for all the welcomes guys.. been trying my best to educate myself and not bother or piss anyone off too much with my questions. I'm still parting out my speed3, when that's done gonna get a DIYPNP and injectors and get the car up and running with that, then go from there. also have a local friend who has a LC-1 laying around...sweet.
