New guy, turbo track build in socal

Hey,
I'm currently building a track car in Sherman Oaks CA. I bought the miata to be a track car only, and I'm working my way towards that. The goal has always been a cheap, fun, fast, track car. I have friends that track high HP fancier cars that like to dine on expensive tires and brakes...I wanted something cheaper and more racecar. I picked up a red 1991 with a bad wheel bearing for cheap, put new calipers on, stainless lines, FM V-Maxx coils, Hawk HP Plus pads, ES bushings full kit, a roll bar, and got to the track. Plan was to run the car N/A and learn to drive it. I got a few weekends in at Willow Springs big track, and ACS Roval...not as much time as I had hoped though. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1321664727 Compression on the 3rd cylinder gave out. That led me to this: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1321664727 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1321664727 So that's where I'm at now. I'm working on stage two. 1.8 swap, ABSURDflow centered low mount v-band manifold, Garrett 2860 w/Tial .86 housing, Tial MVS 38mm, ebay intercooler kit, DIYPNP (built by Braineack), 550cc Injectors, FM level 2 clutch and 10lb flywheel...I think that's everything I have so far. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1321664727 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1321664727 I actually still need to find a 1.8 motor, but the plan is to degrease the engine bay and paint it first...then start collecting all the other little bits like the coolant re-route parts, etc. I plan to get the setup going and run a fairly conservative psi from the turbo. I'm building a kit the can go on a built motor later and I won't have to throw away half my turbo parts. Hopefully stage three will be a built TSE motor, and some fancy 949 suspension pieces. I guess that's it for now, I'll start a build thread when there's something to show. Bird |
