Default 97 STO from the burbs of Chicago!

Greetings! I've owned my Miata for about 9 months or so now. I bought it bone stock with 70k and have been slowly making it more to my liking ever since. It's been a fantastic car for me, probably the most fun I've ever owned, but I'm sure you guys would think a stock power NA would be pretty boring . Originally my plans were to do a modest N/A build with it, then eventually stick a Rotrex on and go from there...

But at the end of December, a Miata with an FM Voodoo II kit showed up on craigslist with a bad motor for dirt cheap. It just so happened that the friend I bought my car from was desperate to get back in another Miata. So we hatched a deal where we would split the price of the car, I'd take all the cool stuff off of it, and he would get the car and put a new motor in it.

So, now comes my turbo miata build. I'll be converting the voodoo II kit to a megasquirt setup with a Reverent MS2, some EV14 injectors, FM's inconel + stage 8 hardware + resbond, and a manual boost controller. I'm aiming for a safe and easy 200whp, but I’ll be tuning it myself so we’ll see where I end up. I'll install the megasquirt in April/May, then I'll most likely be gathering up parts and making the car's cooling system reliable until mid/late summer when I'm planning on doing the rest of the install. I'm trying to do this as "by the books" as possible, and everything I've learned here so far has helped me a lot.

That all said, I’m excited to become part of this community! I’ve been lurking for a long time on all the various miata forums, and you guys have always seemed like the most competent group. I was considering starting a build thread once I get the megasquirt since I know it would help me make sure I’m going down the right path and keep me from cluttering the rest of the forum with my inevitable questions. But after reading a few, I think my build is gonna be pretty mundane in comparison… so I’m not really sure there would be an audience . Anyway, I’ll stop boring you and get to the random shitty pictures I found on my phone!

With the car that graciously donated its turbo kit to me (dude was ridiculously low. His LCA's shoot up like 15* from level with the ground):

Most of the parts that will be going on soon, shortly after cleaning them all up (coilovers on the table are for my roommate's G35 in the previous picture):

and my brand new FFD Motorsport wheels that just arrived! Excuse the shitty blur effects, I was trying out Google's lens blur mode and it ruined the picture.

This is from last fall when a friend let me borrow his 6ul's, but hopefully it'll be looking this good again soon.

Oh the days of car parts on the living room carpet! Where at in the burbs (please don't say naperville)?

What're the bikes hanging up?

Hahah, no, but I'm close to there. I'm from the Oswego / Montgomery area, currently going to NIU though. I worked in Naperville for a while and the traffic alone is enough to keep me out of the area whenever possible.
