New from New Zealand
Gidday all,
Not new to the car but new to forced induction. Got a 1993 NA8C Japanese import and I've spent all my monies on the chassis side of things. Now that I've run out of things to do there I've decided to go forced induction over the Xmas break coming up. The important things I guess are that I'll be running a FFS (yes I know you all hate it) with a Hydra 2.7 rather than piggy backs. Checked the compression today and they're all good. Reason I wanted a blower I guess was because I liked the maxim works extractors I ended up with... That and I'm not after crazy speeds, the bike does for that so I guess I'll only be asking 6-8 pounds-ish... Anyhow, hi and I hope to continue buying stuff off the forums and set the car up properly. |
You are retarded.
For Fucks Sakes. yes FFS stands for that. Dann |

Yeah long story how I ended up with them which revolve around new zealands retarded laws regarding modifying a car. Ah well, like I said I'm not exactly after mega speed...

Welcome.
I'm curious: what do these laws state? I've heard this a few times already from people in other countries. |
Basically any form of modification requires paying someone $5-600 to certify it
Some of the things that require a cert include: - forced induction or anything that'll give 20% power gains over stock. They possibly make you upgrade your brakes as well - adjustable suspension and any change to geometry post-certing requires another one. - brakes - seat mounts - basically anything non-standard even if it's off the shelf. - spacers You have to re-cert every time you add something new or change your mind or tweak suspension geometry (this one is really stupid because that's the point of having adjustable suspension...). The laws were brought in waaaay back when people cut springs and did stupid shit and killed themselves (I thought Darwinism was a good thing but on a serious note it kind of makes sense to an extent) but ends up being overly restrictive. |
