New Paint?
I have a Classic red NA miata that Im planning on painting. What color should I paint it? I want to paint the car some sort of Dark Gold/Bronze or should I re-spray it Red? Also planning on getting a hardtop hopefully black. Pictures would help and paint code. Give me some advice. Thanks!

Florescent brown!!!
 no idea. that's a personal decision. Note that it will be more expensive to do a color change than to respray with the current color. |

Or orange. I have a thing for orange. But don't paint it orange unless it's gonna be stupid fast. |
Seeing your choices.
Red. Red pearl. Do it! |
my thought was to have it some kind of dark bronze and have the hardtop black with the same kind of bronze flakes in the paint. I figured that would give it a different look. Only thing Im not sure what kind of gold/bronze would look clean.

As long as you stick to any shade of red, you won't have to worry about door yams and the engine bay.
Otherwise the paint job gets expensive. And as soon as you get a chip the previous color will show through. I know my car was repainted Sunburst yellow with extra pearl. And where the paint is chipped the red shows through. LOL Same with my brothers old 65 Chevy truck. Everytime the paint would chip, black would show through. |

burnt orange with a lot of metallic sounds good

Stay red. Classic and timeless. Plus its cheaper, and much easier. Any other color would look bad unless you pulled EVERYTHING and did it right. Engine bay, trunk, door jambs, ect.

color change adds a lot of complexity. If you stick to red, assuming your body is not too bad and the paint isnt peeling (which i havent seen on any miata) you can just scuff it down with 400 or 600 grit, fill in any dings and whatnot, and have it painted. Will be much cheaper if you have a shop do all the work also as opposed to a color change.

Bird yellow.

I'm thinking of orange for the Machine. It's pretty fast.
