New from Pittsburgh Area, Pennsylvaniaa

Hey guys, I'm new here, and somewhat new to my miata.

lil bit about myself:

highschool, 18 y/o
3 cars over my few years: 02' supercharged GTP, 95' del sol [totaled and sold], 90' Miata [2 weeks fresh :)]
makin my bank at McDonalds [/sarcasm]

Live about 40 mins north of pittsburgh, I'm well rounded, friends with tons of nissan drift guys, few honda tuners, and some local dsm'ers.. No real preference [first car was a honda del sol, i dont mind honda, real easy car to work with, fun if you wanna learn]

but moved on from there, some jackass totaled it and thats how i got the money for my mx5 which is fresh on the these shitty pennsylvania roads!

I'll have some pictures up shortly when I'm home from school, but my miata is boosted with XS Power turbo kit.. eh its cheap but i'm more than satisfied with it, it's been reinforced and well maintained. just gotta fix up my intercooler setup and lose my leaks.

no major plans for this summer since my local track, Beaver Run, has closed their VDA lot for all auto-cross and drifting [I was to attempt autox, not drift] so I'm gonna use this summer to plan and save for next summer.

Oh, I'm terribly inexperienced with cars.. getting better as I go, learning everyday in the shop with friends, and i know a good amount, but i didn't learn hands on, i learned from forums and bs'ing with friends, picking up here & there, so I'm lacking the actual hands on knowledge, any tips well appreciated!

the forum looks welcoming enough, good to be around

thanks for reading,
brendan.

Brendan,

Good to have you on board. Every car has its quirks and its dos and don'ts. A lot of ours are listed in the FAQ sticky. Most of the questions you might have will have come up before so search first to avoid annoying the longtimers with questions that have been answered at length previously.

Good luck and have fun.

You can still run with the north hills sports car club, and the SCCA has events booked at beaverun.

Welcome to the board. Just do a crud load of research and you'll be fine.

well it would be my first year in autox, so i planned on north hills, but wasn't sure of the SCCA events at beaverrun.

[idk anymore though? i know wagner whose in charge of beaver run drifting had events booked also, everyone who had been to an event last few years got a letter in the mail stating they were sorry but VDA lot were closed this year, and regardless of previous bookings, no more drifting/autocross?]

thanks dustinb, by the way, love the sleepy eyed miata
