new to this site and Miatas. Hampton VA

Hi, my name is Randy, I live in Hampton Virginia; I'm a Navy IT. I'm a first time Miata owner and a full time car fanatic. I am heavily involved in DSMs and now really taking a liking to the little miatas. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a faded but well taken care of 92 turbo miata. Brought it home about a 1.45 hour drive with no issues. I shined it up and put some new wheels and tires on it and have been using it as a commuter to work and loving the fuel mileage compared to my full size Silverado. 30+mpg > 15 mpg. My plans are to get into racing miatas in the future, this one or another but for now I'll just stick with driving it to work and having a little fun. I have been racing my 1g dsm at a local circle track for about 2 years and I'm pretty competitively too. I have one of the top 5 fastest laps out of probably 30-40 cars. I'm looking to switch gears and start working toward a road course worthy miata and do more than just go left but it has been a very good learning experience for me. Here's a few pictures of the car and at the end a picture or two of my circle track car.
This is the day I got it home. Attachment 185747 Attachment 185748 Attachment 185749 Attachment 185750 Here's what it looks like now. I'm really not liking the wheels but I needed them to pass inspection. Attachment 185751 Attachment 185752 Attachment 185753 The back pane is black because it was cracked and I repaired it. I don't know what the final product will look like but I kind of like the look maybe just gloss black instead of flat black. Race car Attachment 185754 Attachment 185755 This is a video of my fastest lap this year, 18.400 and to put that into perspective, the Saturday night race cars run 16.1-16.5 second laps and I did my 18.4 in a street legal 4 cylinder car on street tires. |
looks a lot like my turbo set up. Welcome

Welcome to the home of the turbo. Theres actually a spray paint can that matches the classic red perfectly i think by duplicolor. Time to paint that black rear panel. :P

JimB used to make ghetto intercooler kits for the greddy turbo kit. I still have a coldside jimB pipe on my setup actually! Only part left from that IC kit, haha.

This is the part where I say "what's a JimB kit?" and you say "search noob" but thanks again for the welcomes.

Oh great a ghetto intercooler kit, that's just what I want. Guess it doesn't take much to hold in 5 psi.
