Newbie with a Turbo

Hi everyone. I'm in the UK but over the years have frequently used a few of the Miata forums but only recently got a turbocharged car so thought I would join here and get involved.
Back in 2007 I bought a NC 1.8 Icon in Storm Blue. By 2008 I traded that in for a Galaxy Grey 2.0 Sport as I intended to Supercharge it so wanted to start with the top of the range model. Long story short I had one of the original Cosworth Supercharger kits in 2008 and pretty much one of the first in the UK. After a long and painful story I sold it and have been without a Miata/MX-5 for the last 10 years. After doing a track day with my dad in his Porsche Boxster S I wanted something similar but without the Porsche running costs so I ended up buying a 1993 Eunos Import. It's a 1.6 but runs a TD04L Turbo. I intend to show my progress as I upgrade and modify things so hoping to start a build thread and get some information from others too.

Thanks,
Mark.

Welcome aboard Mark! There is plenty of great information in this forum. Start off by reading all the stickies at the top of each Forum category. Years of information has been condensed into these posts.

Yeah the main reason I thought I would join was because when I did searches on google etc and looking at intercooler routing for example this forum kept popping up so I thought it only right for me to register and actually contribute rather that just freeloading as a guest. Hopefully some of my posts and topics will someday be useful to someone else too. I am at work at the moment and they have a block on social media sites so I am unable to upload photos so will start my build thread and show you where I am currently when I get access to my Flikr account. Do you have many UK members as it will be interesting to see what different parts we have access to and are available over here compared to the US?

I read the Newbie sticky so thought I would make a new introduction. It goes something like this:

Hi,
I'm Mark. I am 33 and I live in the Lake District, UK. I work offshore as a Drilling Maintenance Supervisor on oil platforms in the North Sea. I have had a couple of MX-5's in the past back in 2007 and 2008. Firstly I had a brand new Storm Blue NC 1.8 Icon and then traded that in for a Galaxy Grey NC 2.0 Sport as a base car for the Cosworth Supercharger. I was one of the first in the country to pioneer the Cosworth Supercharger kit but it didn't have a happy ending and I sold the car after it spun a bearing after running out of oil the day after the engine was rebuilt with parts and labour supplied free of charge by Cosworth. I am unsure if Cosworth or the independant engine builder accepted liability but after about 18 months of hassle leading up to this point I lost a lot of money and handed the project to someone else. Since then in 2009 I haven't had a Mazda until recently. I got divorced and sold my Clio 182 and bought a E92 M3. I didn't enjoy it or find it as much fun as the Clio and it had some engine issues that started costing me money so I traded it in for a Diesel! I loved the performance and fuel economy but it just wasn't very exciting.

Following some health complications in June I was off work for 3 months on sick pay so money was tight and I had a lot of time on my hands. I sold the Diesel and bought a 1993 Eunos Roadster 1.6 with a TD04L turbo charger and have spent the last 2 months enjoying working on that with maintenance, modifications, improvements and repairs.

I love a good forum and have came here after google results repeatedly lead me here when searching for intercooler routing ideas. So thought I would register and say Hello. "Hello".

I can't post any photos of my car at the moment as the firewall restrictions prevent me from opening my media sharing site.

Thanks,

Mark.

Just worked out how I can post photos without going to my flikr account. By going to edit posts on other forums I can copy and past the URL in here. So here is my Eunos:

I have done several modifications and changes since the day I bought it but I will keep them for the build thread. Sorry if the photos are a little large (I know the sticky recommends setting for a 15" screen)
