The nightmare of a first post.

Hey guys. My names Jake. I live in Phoenix, AZ and I own a 2003 Miata SE, stock car, with 105xxx miles on the odo. I work for sears as a manager at one of their repair centers (absolutely trash).
I like shooting guns and the occasional drift/track event for fun.

Well obvious reason why im here is to 1. get to know the Miata community better and ofcourse 2. learn the different ways to turbo this wonderful car to help in the power department.

Thanks for your time guys, now I got some stickies to read! :noes:

Welcome to the forum.

The Miata is a terrible choice for a drift car because of its low polar moment of inertia. But that makes it a great track car.

Post pics and tell us about your plans.

If you ever hear anyone mention buttsex or buttsexing here, that's Miata slang for drifting.

This thread needs photos of miata and cats.

Do you own a cat?

I actually own three cats. Im at work, bored as living hell, but ill throw some pictures up tonight of the cats and my Miata toy.

And thank you for the warm welcome, I appreciate it a lot. And the drifting would mostly be for fun with friends on private property, I plan on making this a full blown track car.
First definitely comes roll bar, then handling and suspension. Then maybe bolt on's (gotta make her breath better). 120k maintenance to make sure all is well then boost. Aiming for about 250 whp, somewhere along that mark.

Save the bolt on money for the necessary pre-turbo upgrades like clutch, radiator, ECU, injectors, wideband, etc. Cold air intakes and headers/exhaust don't do squat on these engines if naturally aspirated so it's wasted money. Turning the boost up by 1psi will get you more.

And yes, the low hanging fruit is in the suspension and brakes for better track times. And they make the car much more fun.

Check out the DIY bilstein thread if you're up to build your own coilovers and have bilsteins or can find a set for a reasonable price.

Funny I just finished reading that, definitely may be the route i take for a coil over setup.
