hey guys i recently bought a 92 miata and while trying to find some info as to how much power these mazda motors can handle i stumbled upon this site.

sorry about my first post samnavy i got carried away reading that thread.

Sweet dude, power handling and "what is the weak link" in the drivetrain are debated/discussed often around here. You'll find that a healthy BP motor will make 250whp forever. When you get in to the 275whp range and higher, longevity can be a factor on stock internals, but a good tune and heat management will go a long way to getting even 300whp BONE-STOCK motors to last awhile.

5spd trannys are suspect at 300whp, 6spds at 400whp.

7" Differentials (from 94+ cars) are good into the 350whp range daily driven, but can be broken with slicks at under 250whp.

Stock internals, the rods go first, then the pistons, then typically exhaust valves if you're not cooling things properly. Head-gaskets typically only fail due to age. Oil pump gears are suspect at 300whp due to crank flex.

These are the basics... you'll get the rest if you hang around a week or two.
