Noob with an NB1 in CA

Hey guys! My name's JD, I've had my NB1 for a little over a year now. I'm from CA, but I go to college in Pennsylvania studying astrophysics and computer science.

Used to have this shitbox '99 V6 Mustang convertible. It was enough to get me interested in cars, but a total POS. Decided I wanted something with even less power that I could work on myself and that was an actual car, so I sold the Mustang and picked my Miata up last May as a birthday present to myself.

First thing I did was go over the suspension and put in an FM Stage 2 suspension package. I managed to drive the original motor out of it, so I replaced it with an '04 NB2 motor. A few weeks ago I finally got the VVTuner installed to take advantage of that. And of course I just put in my Garagestar door bushings..

I've taken her to and from college cross country twice now, and it's been an awesome experience both times. Once camping (lol miata camping) and once doing a sort of endurance run, 3000 miles NY to CA in 3 days.

I already have my DIYPNP and hopefully in the next few weeks my turbo build will be coming together. I'm going to keep it conservative now, probably around 180-190 but with the potential to scale up more later when I get my roll bar.

My 6ULs and plasti-dipped black side skirts and mud guards. Usually not a big fan of dip but I think these came out nicely.

Can you commment on the door bushings before and after results?

You know how everyone says you can kinda feel the difference, and it helps with rattles a little?

That's total bullshit. You can't kinda feel the difference, and it doesn't help with rattles a little. It's a night and day difference, and literally every single rattle except the one from my windows being up with the top down is gone. It's amazing, best $65 I've spent in a while.

Miata Club on Facebook is getting a group buy together, you should hop on it.

EDIT: And I wouldn't even care about my windows if they weren't stuck up right now. See those custom window switches? What you don't see is a rats' nest of wires the size of a baseball underneath those. I live my life one fire hazard at a time.

Interesting. I suppose the door now acts more as a solid piece connecting the front and rear of the car. Next step is to weld the door shut like that illegal show we watched years ago. (Dukes of Hazard)

I am in a Canadian group buy already. I just had to get more justification for my $60. That's a lot of money for a small piece of Delrin but a small amount if it does as everyone says.

Now we just need a bolt in T-Top "windshield to roll bar" piece allowing 95% of the feel of a convertible but with added longitudinal flex control.
